Card from my son

My 11 year old son gave me the sweetest card the other night:

I love you so much. I love you not for what you give me and not for guidance although I appreciate it greatly. What I love you for is who you are, your heart, your soul, your compassionate eyes. And I will think this for all eternity.

It is fortunate that he is young enough not to be tainted by "societal norms". The younger a person is when they become aware of the differences between everyone, the less they are prone to being prejudiced by peers, society etc.
