So I wanted give a 2 minute audio clip of my voice. I was hoping for some feedback on things I'm doing right and things I can improve on. I've been full time for 5 months now and that has forced me to work on my voice at an accelerated pace. Any help is much appreciated.
I am putting this in here because it's not a picture or video but it does pertain to being transsexual. I hope I'm putting this in the right place.

For my untrained ear you wound wonderful. I was specifically listening for some very obvious male sounds and I don't think that I identified any. Congratulations.
Now, what are you using for that voice training? A very curious mind wants to know, if you would be so kind.

Well, I use a program called Praat to measure my pitch. It's a free download. You just have to Google it and it's easy to find. I can get a guide for you on how to work it if you want. Outside of raising my pitch on that program. I sing female vocal music (terribly I might add) but it does help. Also, being full time, I'm sort of forced to practice all day every day too. That's about it though. I listen to women and mimic what I can.
No big secret there.... Except consistency. You have to be dedicated and determined.
Thank you do much for your input!

you sound great, very feminine voice but not the squeaky sound of someone trying to sound female. you pass without a problem. I just downloaded praat per your advise and am going to try it out.

Aly, great job! Just listening to your voice without any physical clues all I hear is a feminine voice that says GG.

If there were any flaws, I didn't hear them and this is coming from someone with a professionally trained ear and perfect pitch. Well done!

Aly, I would appreciate it if you could get me a guide or a link to a guide if that would be easier. I need all the help I can get.
Thanks

This is where I got all my info for voice training. It's fantastic information and I wish it was a sticky somewhere because of the wealth of knowledge compiled, but I did not write it so I certainly will not take any of the credit! If a moderator wants to take the info and apply it as a sticky, that is on them.

Btw, thank you for you feedback. Its funny, the last 2 times I have called my insurance company, they call me Ms. P----- even after I verified my male credentials. It's like they forget to use male pronouns based on what the account says and go by what they hear. It is so awesome. And for the record, there is nothing on my account that let's them know I am TS and the reasonings I have called in are not TS related. So I guess I'm doing something mildly right.

You sound wonderful Aly, good job. Now just relax and allow it to come naturally. Stop worrying about being TS or male or a woman. Just be you and you will be fine.

Hi Aly:
Very nice to have a voice to the face!! :)
You sound really great to me. As Jorja said it is now a matter of relaxing, and breath control, but sounds like you have that going on, so well done!! Singing in the female register is also what works for me, trying to keep about middle C.
Great to "hear" from you!

Love it! I am glad you have been able to achieve this very nice voice on your own. Some can do it alone and some need help. I find my biggest struggle now is relaxing and accepting it is good. We have listened to our voice all our lives and initially, while hearing something different, it may be hard to accept it is what it is. You have it!

Aly,
I have no idea where you started with your voice but it is clear to me you have arrived. Good job!

You sound just fine Aly! The first question I asked Kim and Wendy when I met them was does my voice work? Kim said that I'd had nothing to worry about my voice and it made me feel great! Hearing your recording, they'd have the same remark for you! Speak out, girl!

I thought your voice was lovely! I haven't worried that much about mine but I guess I should start.

You got it. I mean no one is gonna hear you speak and think, "trans" or "dude". I don;t think any of us are gonna be 100% happy with our voices but such is life. Most people just don't. If of us hate our voice, it could always be worse. I mean what about Fran Dreicsher or whatever she is called? THAT would suck!
Some people like the sound of their own voice. OH my gyod like this one guy I work with who NEVER shuts up! My stale joke at work is (he) wants to have a LLLLOOONNNGGG talk with you..." And his daughter is the same way!
For christmas we are going to get him a muffler for his mouth.

Aly, I'm jealous! Right now voice is my biggest challange, but you certainly have that down. Thanks for the Praat link. I will definitely give it a shot.
Hugs!
