Happy Thursday everyone.

I know there are many milestones in our transition journey. Well this week I reached 2 critical stages.

The first = my first appointment with Dr where the conversation was centered on one topic alone - Hormones. I've been working through the local health services team for sometime looking/waiting to get notified that a slot has opened. Last week I received this notice as a new clinic recently opened in my area and they were beginning to accept new Trans patients through referral.

Well Tues I met with them. Now this was the first time seeing anyone Health related in more then 15 years (beyond breaking my shoulder a couple of years ago which was handled through emerg). We had a good open conversation regarding what I was expecting or hoped and a discussion regarding how I saw the next 12 months unfolding for me as part of my journey. She was very welcoming and I was happy to hear that she has already some Trans patients so I'm not the first. I almost cried when she said "we are here to take care of you and we'll be doing this journey together". First step is the request blood work and a request to come back next week to review the results; baring any issues we'll be moving forward. I visited the vampire in the lab... had a ton of blood drawn and off I went. It was somewhat of a surreal moment leaving the Dr's office.

That night laying in bed all I could keep saying to myself was "its finally happening" "its finally happening". I pray that nothing shows up from my blood tests that will derail my progress towards my goals.

Today it was 1st Laser Treatment. I'll say it this way... it was a milestone but a non event. I had myself so wound up on this for a week particularly given that there were areas that had never been shaved ever; and areas not the most easiest to get to (maybe if I were 20 I'd be more nimble). Prepping myself yesterday for today was the biggest issue. I'm having laser from the shoulders down to the toes and all in between. I've heard and read many posts about how it hurts. We'll my experience was very good. Apart of a bit of discomfort in the upper portion of my armpits and across the top of my bikini line it felt more like a gentle massage. The whole process took just over an hour and during had a great conversation with the Tech about shopping, hair color and hair color management as I'm going to have my hair color changed early in January (another step forward). Can't wait to rid myself of the Grey.

Next Laser treatment is mid Jan and next Dr appointment next Friday. I'm sure I'll be stressing about that by mid next week.

Have a wonderful day. Happy Friday eve.

Cheers... Jennifer

Hi Jennifer:

Such a "good news" post, so happy for you !! I hope your blood work is fine and you can start the next step. Sounds like the Dr is going to be a real asset for you.

Congratulations Jennifer. It sounds like a good start. Just wait till they hit a sensitive spot with that laser! ;)

If you thought the laser was like a "gentle massage", you might not be happy with the results. What setting are they using? My first appointment hurt like hell cause it was a lot of (dark) hair. But it actually hurts less each time as the amount of hair diminishes. They should also be turning the power up each time to be more effective.

Dana;

No idea on the settings; perhaps I should ask next time. I do know I'm getting the followup ichyness (everywhere). :) I always knew I had a high pain threshold so that might be part of it.

And Jorja... the few minutes with my legs up in the stirrups was interesting to get into all those areas the sun generally doesn't shine on. Big Simile on that.

Cheers all... Jennifer

I have had massage, I have had gentle massage, And I have had laser.....

At least for me...laser is not related to the first two in any way!

I was writhing and squealing like a girl (go figure)...
It felt like it was a portal to hell had opened on my face.
It die away quickly when they shut the bloody thing off.

I will also note I suffered from dense hair follicles not seen
on many male beards - or so they said.

For me laser was really really really painful when it was on.
I used a nationally known laser chain.
It was slightly easier the second go around.
I have session 3 in a week.

As far as whole body? Not for me.

Off and running Jennifer! Hang on for the ride!

And body laser is not to be confused with facial laser. Thinner hairs and ususally less density.

Thanks Sue.. I have been extremely hesitant to do anything more until I see longer term results from the face.
Thus far, it's amazing. I'm not sure what else I will want to do other than chest since HRT appears to tame a lot of it.

Wendy; I so wish I had the option of laser for my face but sadly they've told me no given the amount of gray. I do have one thing I need to do better and that avoiding razor burn and bumps prior to my next session. Hoping a week in salt water will clean up my skin. Also looking at which hazel as an option.

As for the the face... Checking into electro tomorrow to see what I'm potentially up against.

Cheers... Jennifer
