A Funny Thing Happened At The Dr's. Office

I worry about my voice not being feminine enough though lots of people tell me it is OK. I do get read as male on the phone quite often though.

With that said on to the story.

The nurse comes for me and takes me to the room where they weigh you, take your BP, temp and pulse. Michelle accompanied me. I am quite a chatty Cathy at the Dr. always making light of my situation. So the nurse heard me talk quite a bit while she was doing that. She then takes us back to the exam room and pulls up my chart on the computer. The first question she ask me was, You no longer have periods do you, I am 59 and sure she could see my age on the chart, I kinda smiled and answered no. I looked at Michelle and smiled a little more. I didn't look at the nurse when she started asking me about my scripts but when she got to the spironolactone I heard a hesitation in her voice Michelle later told me she looked like this :eek:.

Worrying about my voice as I do and having talked quite a bit since arriving I took the question about periods as a good sign and maybe it's not as bad as I think.

I hope you all find it as amusing as Michelle and I.

thats a good story. When i go to my Encologist i go as female naturally. The 2nd time i went, the nurse called my male name, in a room full of patients. I didnt make a move, after a few minutes, she went back inside, i went to the receptionist and bitched her out. They never made hat mistake again.

After 4 years of going, no worries, FULL BLOWN FEMALE at this point, so went in she asked me if everything is ok. I lifted my skirt and said, what the F#@$ is this thing, she did not hesitate, she looked at me and said "Oh, you have Vagibalitis" i laughed for 2 days after that, she is a hoot....

Something strange about this -
Did they weigh you? Usually at the doctor, they bother only with weighing fat people, and you aren't fat.
I think doctors do it for entertainment. Kind of in the same way the haters like to call us "sir".

I always get weighed.

Every time I go to the dentist and they want to take X-Ray's I'm asked if there is any chance that im pregnant.
No, absolutely no chance...ever. Lol

So many interesting situations happen. I am in the same boat as you Rachel.

I had my annual screening for breast cancer, a mammogram. As they took me back to the technician doing the test she began with all the typical questions. When we got to "How long has it been since your last period", I paused for a moment and said.... never. I'm a transsexual. Her response was "OH! Well how long have you been taking hormones",,, as if it were the most natural thing in the word. She was so sweet and gentle too!!

It is always amazing and so pleasing when other women just see us for what we are, "just another woman".

I've been going to the same GP long before my transition. She's a great doctor and has been a great support through all of this. When I was still married to my ex wife if was there for a check up and we went through a line of questioning with a young new nurse:

1. Are you sexually active? Yes
2. Do you use protection? No
3. Have you had any recent periods? No
4. Are you pregnant? No
5. How do you know you're not pregnant? Because I'm having sex with a woman.

Her face got beat red. Then I also clued her into my transition.

My did my doctor get a good chuckle when I told her.
