Out and about

So last night, I was traveling and decided to pack a "special" bag of stuff.
got to the hotel/casino and started to dress. I brought two outfits, one casual plaid wool skirt/sweater/sheer hose & boots and a LBD, moderate heels & very sheer black hose.
After spending considerable time on make-up and hair, it was time to go out in the wool skirt..
Walked around a bit (I had my jacket on, started to get warm) so I went back to my room. Rather uneventful.
Started to get hungry, so I thought "well, I am here!"
Changed into the LBD, sheer nude hose and heels and headed off to the elevator. Once I looked in the mirror on the elevator, I realized the nude hose were not working!
Back to the room, changed into black very sheer hose and out I went.
Walked around the casino for a bit and settled in on a decent restaurant and sat at the bar for dinner and a glass of wine.
The staff could not have been nicer and I really feel that no one really cared how I was dressed!
At the end of the day, it is all about being confident in how you feel and carry yourself! Shoulders back, look people in the eye and smile!
a great way to spend a Monday night!

That sounds like it went very well, must have been fun. I wonder if you conversed much. At six feet six without heels, i am afraid i would need several drinks before going out of my room in my LBD, and do what you did. You look fabulous in your avatar.

I am quite tall as well and felt (and sometimes still do) that everyone is looking...but lately have come to realize that if you own it, it is quite fun!!

sounds lovely, and yes, if you own the situation, most people don't have issues with it.
I do get more strangers saying "Hi" or giving me a big smile, but they have all been nice about it (probably more approachable / interesting than when I'm in drab).

I'm happy to read of your night out, and how well it went. Getting dressed in pretty clothes certainly takes the edge off of dining alone on a business trip.
