View Full Version : How often do you see others out in public en femme?

Does anybody see this? I have on a few occasions in downtown Asheville, middle of the day and all.
I am fascinated when I do, and have always been envious of them for having the courage to do this...
One of my first trips out without any male clothes brought along was in the same general area of downtown Asheville, but my outing was at night.
Still was quite fun indeed! How often do you see this when you are out? Or have you ever seen anybody at all?
(I guess the city you are in probably makes a big difference) :)

Not very often - but I am not looking for men in dresses. I just smile at anyone who looks my way.

once, 2 weeks ago.
Both of us en femme, I looked her way and smiled, she looked the other way and avoided eye contact.
Either my outfit when I got my Santa photo (photo with Santa on my blog page) was realistic and she thought I was a GG, or she was just shy.

In the last 6 or 7 years I have on countless occasions here in Winnipeg. Obviously the most common being at the LGBT* based bars & events, at the thrift stores and at kink community events. Other common sightings are on the buses (passengers and drivers!), in quiet coffee shops (most often accompanied with friends), working behind the counters of small stores, and while I am working during the early morning hours I see many enjoying their night based cruises/walks/McDonald's snacks.

I've occasionally thought I saw someone, but so far its only been when hanging out with others.

By the way Victoria, if I was near Asheville, I'd go to the Biltmore Estate en femme, I remember that place being absolutely gorgeous!

Hi Victoria,

I suppose it is possible that I have seen a few of us in the wild but then again you can never truly know as my potential sighting could have gone either way . . . MtF CDer or a GG?

Hi Victoria, It's been quite a while since I have seen what I thought was a CD.

I rarely see anyone. And they always seem to be avoiding contact via every means possible.

But if you are in Grand Rapids and see a CDer OUT enfemme in the general public, during the day as well as night, smiling, making eye contact, engaging others in conversation, answering questions, handing out Group business cards, handing out brochures for everything from "Own Your Gender" to Grand Rapids Crossdresser Social Group "The Grand Illusions" and providing information to people who know someone...........

Well that is me.

Because I have found that OWING it, not taking it too seriously, looking like I put some effort in to it, maybe looking a bit glamorous, teaching and helping instead of looking like a deer in the headlights, FOR ME it works. That it may be throwing them off a bit and thereby gaining some type of pity or compassion or just a secret chuckle. Maybe envy? And the people of Grand Rapids have been wonderful! West Michigan is a Great Place to be!

This is SO MUCH FUN!

I can only remember one and that was 25 years ago in my former town. She was asking for help at the makeup counter in a drug store in the mall and the young girl at the register declined to help her.

I did encounter a transexual at a local beauty school where my wife and I went for some treatments a couple years ago. She was very attractive with prominent breasts and a low cut top but she had an adams apple and was about six feet tall. Other customers refered to her as "she".

I'm assuming seeing my own reflection in a store window doesn't count.

I don't know for sure, but from what I've heard, the chances of running into a sister in Asheville might be a little bit greater than in a lot of other parts of the country. As for me, I don't know as I've ever run into one.

Very infrequently. It may simply be that I don't scour the crowds looking for people. I'm usually like anyone else, focused on doing my thing. I also have grown confident that despite my height, I'm seldom read unless there is personal interaction. I suspect the same is true for others out on the crowded Houston streets.

Several times they have found me. And it was embarassing because none of these times were their presentations very good. It's just me, but I am not interested in meeting other crossdressers. That said, not having yet met a very proficient one in publc, the door is not closed.

Once a year at the pride parade and festival, I see a lot of CD/TS people, other than that, one at the mall years ago. Before I moved here 15 years ago, I lived in a large city, and in 22 years I remember seeing maybe 3 over the years. But back then not many where that open, and now I'm in a small town, and we don't really have any venues to go out to.
While I am a people watcher, I usually take people as they present, and don't look for things like beard shadow, or other tells, so I only see the ones that are very obvious.

Small town girl here. Needless, I never see anyone. It's either that or they're really good, or I'm clueless (which is entirely possible).

Once or twice a year at the most, but there have been many years with zero sightings. Everytime I've seen one of us they were shopping somewhere or another. Years ago I came face to face with a CD in the ladies' department and she knew she was outed. I looked away for a moment and when I looked back she vanished!

I do not go looking for cross dressers. I am more apt to be looking a well dressed women to admire their ensemble and poise. In my small city and surrounding area which is truly blue collar working class I have seen one particular cross dresser and his female companion twice. Both times he was attired to intentionally draw attention to himself. Two years ago I saw another cross dresser in a local Wal-Mart. He had a total lack of poise which only drew attention to himself. I only saw both drew attention to themselves, one intentionally and the other unintentionally, because, if they were GG's I would say the same. In all probability I have passed/encounters others who "blended" well and had the poise of a woman. Come to think of it, there was possibly a third I saw at my local Barnes and Nobles, but, I am still wondering....

Locally no, but on trips into the LA area yes. It’s a numbers thing, there are millions of people there, you are bound to see some girls without even trying. Thrift stores, swap meet, shopping in West Hollywood and more. All places I seen Girls.

Wow, I never seem to see other CDers out and about- it makes me wonder sometimes. Once, I dressed all out to go to a local CD weekly event in a bar. When I got there, I started chatting with one of the gurls, and I was kind of shocked that she didn't even try to mask her male voice! Then many others started coming in the bar, some looked passable, others, not so much. For whatever reason, seeing so many other CDers kind of dampened my excitement. Maybe it was too much reality hammering my fantasy, but I ended up leaving soon after.
Sorry I don't have a profile photo yet to post. Soon!

At one Goodwill store I frequent I have saw several over the years. I feel sure some males I see at Goodwill are cder's, dressed as males. They shop in the female cloths and never move away, unless someone gets to near them. I try and keep my distance from them and let them shop. If they move away...I move in.

Well... I guess it would be "quite often" for me. But the ones which I meet on the street and can tell for sure "this is a CD" are usually dressed to shock. Those I see almost regularly (I do live in a huge city).
The one who dresses for themselves do not stand out. And you have to look very closely to recognize - and this is not polite :)

It has been rare at only two or three a year. In every case they were dressed inappropriately for the location and time. In addition, they had horrible fashion sense such that any woman dressed like that would stand out

The only time I ever see other CDs is when I go into the city (Toronto), and to friendly places. Anywhere else? Never. Not that I am looking, but I'm pretty sure if I saw someone that I though might be, I would notice. (Unless they were THAT good)

Rare maybe once per year. Like yesterday I ran into a MTF TG (probably). A woman employee who knew of my inclinations introduced us 6 months ago. The person didn't seem interested in talking, and I looked for her (him) when I went into the same store yesterday. Spotted her, but she didn't seem to show any sign of recognition when I passed in the aisle. I could not think of a way to approach and start a conversation, and I thought she may have not wanted to talk. She was stocking the shelves with new stuff, moving fast. I was looking at the dresses, (size medium) when she appeared suddenly about 12 inches from me, on the right and hung up another hanger with medium dress. Startled, I managed to say, "OH! HI!" as nicely as I could. She grunted "Hi. " and hurried off. I suspect she is a MtoF transexual--not really a crossdresser. Her name badge had a male name. Long hair. Medium figure.

I have seen a few, it comes with living in an urban area....there probably was more too...but here those that do it well, you will never tell by simply passing on the street , everyone is in too much of a rush....only ones I spotted were those dressed up a bit too much for the season ( no need for pantyhose in warm weather) and those that look like linebackers, and walk in the meat packing district bowlegged....

I see some regularly out and about and I know a few personally in either mode.
We always say hi no matter what mode we are in.
I see mostly blenders and those go pretty much un noticed.
I was out one day 100% femme and ran into one CD I know that is an over the top fetishy dresser.
We chatted outside of an Old Navy store for 20 min or so and the comments were pretty bad towards her.Maybe us both I don't know for sure.
I went walking to my car after she left and I overheard two women say I can't believe that lady was actually talking to that tranny.
Ugly words yes hurtful words yes but thats how people perceive what they don't understand.
If you want to be over the top fine with me but be ready to be viewed in a bad light.

Surprisingly, I saw two, at different times and places while Christmas shopping a few weeks ago. Plain to see they were CD’s as they did little to cover the fact & in both situations they were wearing a combination of male/female clothing. So, unfortunately they really stood out. But then on the other hand I see plenty of GG’s and think “what the heck?” Girl, you’re a girl! Why don’t you try to look like it! I can dress & look better than you! ……That seems to frustrate me more.

Very seldom, but then again I'm not really looking that hard. I'll see people who *could be* TG but they also might just be GGs who were unlucky in the gene lottery.

This past week I noticed crossdressed people in two television commercials. When I first saw it I wondered, so I hit the replay, several times in fact, and paused it over and over, to make sure if I was seeing what I thought. There is a Toyota commercial where a guy picks up his dad and goes for a drive, into what looks like a staged, mini version of New Orleans Mardi Gras. Just a few seconds into the commercial is a "guy in a dress", which is not the same as he clearly has a beard. There is another, rather funny, commercial for Turbo Tax, which also has several more real Mardi Gras incidents in it, and a couple people who are clearly crossdressed near the end. It took a lot of pause and replay there, too. They were well-done, though, unlike the "guy in a dress" in the Toyota commercial.

Most that I have seen have been in the downtown Asheville area, but actually saw one working at the Goodwill in Asheville.
Going to the Biltmore in femme would probably be quite fun! :)

My wife and I were getting our nails done this past Friday.. We do opposite of each other every 2 weeks. This time was pedi for me and mani for her. While we were scheduling, another "one of us" was visiting with her girlfriend getting services. She appeared to be college aged (I'm in a college town). Dressed very well in a sweater, t-shirt leggings and boots. Cute bob-style haircut and black hoop earrings.

Actually, earlier this week in a thrift store out of town. One was an employee and the other was a customer. I would use the blanket term transgender as it is hard to tell if they were transexual or crossdressers.

I have seen one in Manchester (UK) out in the city centre just walking along in the crowd at the station approaches,
I also have been standing fully femme, taking posed photos in the other main railway station of another TG.
And few people seemed to notice as they passed us until we stood on the lower concourse in the vicinity to the escalator then we noticed that as people standing on the moving stairway, not having to concentrate on moving. they started to look around. They then noticed us and we saw nudges and pointing as they observed the now obvious pair of TG's taking photos

You would think more often than not, here in Las Vegas. I maybe actually see someone once or twice a month. Of course, there are a lot of masculine presenting women and very passable CD's that you just don't clock. I'm sure I could go club surfing for more interaction and there's a big LGBT presence here but, I'm just more of a homebody. Now, Halloween is a whole different story.

I have seen a few over the years, Once my waitress on the floor at a casino i was so sure she was, she was great i tipped really good and never had to wait for a drink. I never really said anything to out her, but did say how great i thought she looked in her outfit, she thanked me for the compliment. She noticed i had clear polish on my nails and said she liked my nails i told her the pink on my toes looks so much better but My wife wouldnt let me wear pink on my hands when out, we both laughed and she said she thought it would look great on me.

The shy, wily, and elusive transgender depends on protective coloration to avoid the notice of hostile predators, they are most likely to be spotted in their natural environments lingerie, shoe, jewelry, cosmetic, and dress shops.

Exclusive of my own outings, a few times a year, I see TGs while shopping, at restaurants or movies. Most recently, a fellow customer at a Menard's (Home Depot or Lowe's type of place) in town.

There used to be a TS who was a hair stylist just one station over in the salon where my nail tech had her business. I didn't know her very well but we got along when we had a chance to talk (I was always dressed when in that place). She got in a bit of trouble with the law (drug related) and left there, but has recently resurfaced working at another salon, although I have not seen her in person since then.

I can't ever remember noticing any until I started myself. I was so unobservant that some time back there was a coworker at my office that was full-time trans and I didn't even notice, someone else at the office told me one day. I was like, Oh, I never noticed. I think really most people are like that, to busy to notice, all the while we obsess over the store clerk who does notice.

But now I do. Living in Hillcrest has it's benefits, you can see us daily. I've also noticed more girls now when flying, that has to take some real nerve.

Usually when I am out some where, I am trying to do whatever it is I am doing and get out of the store, etc, etc, etc. I hardly look around to see if there is any of us walking about.

I have , however, seen two in the past. 15 years ago I saw one at a gas pump, and this past summer when Kmart was going out of business I saw another. The one at the pump dressed very nicely and was some what passable. The one at Kmart dressed very nicely but had no wig or makeup, was very nervous, and never made eye contact or anything. I approached neither of them for a conversation.

I live in Austin, TX, which is the state capitol and a pretty large town. CD'ers and TG folk aren't a very uncommon sight here. Just about any large public gathering will have a few show up.

Aside from at the gay bar that I go to for CD excursions myself, I encountered a bunch of crossdresers at an anime convention this weekend (some doing cosplay, and some simply CD or TG folk out having fun, plus a few running a table for an upcoming drag festival); Several more at other Anime or Brony cons; I've seen some in a local used book store; I've seen some in the malls. I'd say I see at least one a month on average, not counting the ones at the gay nightclub. And that's without attending a lot of gay-oriented events at all.

This past summer while doing some work at our church a CDer walked by. She wasn't in the least passable and seemed to have a very lame fashion sense as seen by the very heavy beard she was sporting. I have seen her before and have always admired her courage for stepping out in public.

I have seen a few CDers in this town over the last seven years and over half were sporting beards. One other was fooling quite a few people but after I watched her (secretly of course) I could tell that she wasn't really what she was presenting as.

Very rarely. Only twice, and even then only in CD 'hotspots', and even then (to my despair if I may say) the common assumption among the average person where I live is that they are involved in prostitution. However, both 'sightings' (I strongly dislike the use of the word though) were 101% passable.

Surprisingly often, I would say.
Was in Austin for a week some time ago, and saw three CDs (or TSs); one on the bus to Barton creek mall, one in Barton creek Mall, and one heading into a pub on the 4th st.

Around where I live I may see a CD a few times a year. Before Xmas I visit a small restaurant just 5 minutes walk from where I live, and a CD and his wife/girlfriend sat in the both beside me. There was no possibility of missing this, tall guy, nicely dressed, and very high heels. One very drunk man at the bar even told her that she was "sooo tall!", as he did not really get it due to his state :-)

Not really that often, but when I do a sister is usually easy to spot.
There are the tells that we all know so a trained eye makes the connection.

We were at the mall one day (me dressed) and we passed a couple of ladies (one a sister) and I nudged my wife and asked if she saw her. She didn't and had looked right at her. She then made me find them in the crowd so she could see and then asked me how I knew. As they say... "Takes one to know one"... LOL

Never once have I noticed unless I have specifically arranged to meet someone and then only twice. When I am dressed I am still in the paranoid hyper-aware state so I do pay attention. Even when dressed as a male I am more observant than I used to be.

But I am in Iowa, so there's that.

I'm not going to count those I see at CD events in public.

I'm not going to count those that I see at the local gay bar.

I'm not going to count those that I see at CD conventions.

I'm not going to count those that I see at Renaissance Festivals.

I'm not going to count CD friends when we're going out together, but not to a CD vent.

I've seen one or two a year, typically at restaurants, shopping, Goodwill, etc.

I've seen about as many who were likely, the the one with tags "CD SAM" or "SH MAYL".

Plus good number of possibles, who either lost out in the genetic lottery, or were very tall.
