This morning I came down with a bad case of the "Eff-its" and decided to call in sick to work. It has been about a month since I had some quality "Mel time" and today seemed like the perfect day for it. I had just finished shaving when the phone rang. It was school calling to tell me that my child was in the nurse's office with a temp and she was being sent home.
The score:
Karma - 1
Melody - 0

Well played, Karma...Well played! :phbbt:

Oh Mel, how frustrating! Kids have the most amazing way of being around when you don't want them there. It's almost as if they know...

Lol, funny story. Same thing just happened to me. I took next Friday off using the excuse that I need to work on projects at home. Wife comes home last night all excited because her boss let her take it off too and now we have a long weekend together. Oh well.

:lol2:

Just the universe's way of saying: "Not today Mel..."

It's happened to most of us... though there are probably still a few out there who have only seen the good side of existence and just don't understand this...

Keep Calm & Carry On!

Life has a way of foiling the best of plans. It is too bad that things did not work out as you had hoped.

Has this been said?

The best laid plans of mice and men......

I hope your daughter was okay though.

You can live for another day.

Yes! It is frustrating.:)

I note you have plenty of sympathy and "understanding" from all of us.

Yes..."The best-laid plans of mice and men often go awry". However, I've just learned that all is not lost. This weekend, my wife and I were going to stay at a local casino to help a friend celebrate a milestone birthday. She said that she would rather stay home with the kid and then encouraged me to go myself. Looks like I may have some extra packing to do :D

Hugs,

Mel

Hey Mel,

At least you hadn't dressed yet when you got the call from the school! I was in the shower once, shaving legs for a day planned to be all dolled up when, "RING-RING..." School nurse, child sick with a temp & in a fight. *umph*

So many possible stories and yet all sound so much the same, a planned day dressed--ruined.

Sympathetic hugs,
-E

I know the feeling. Four out of five days this week, school was cancelled because of an ice storm!

We'll it sounds like things might work out for you. I think a weekend at the casino might be more fun than a day at home. Pack that extra bag and enjoy yourself.

Too funny. Sorry, but too funny. I had to read the post word for word to my wife. We both laughed.

At least you still have your sense of humor!

Sorry to hear that. It seems that I always eventually find some time if plans fall through.

Been there. Ditto on the snow days here too. It seems the kids have had more days home than in school this winter.

You plan your girl day
Lay out your favorite dress,
the phone rings oh what a mess,
off you go to do the right thing
oops did I take off the wedding ring?
Back home but not by yourself
Maybe I could just be Santa's little girl elf?
Not today sweetie, but smile a tad
Sometimes you have to be Dad.
Hope your little one is doing better, and they do grow up too fast.

Hi Mel,

Sorry to say this but your story gave me my first chuckle of the day . . . totally not at your expense it was just too perfect of a karma boomerang to not smile. However, I note that karma has a way to self correct with your potential upcoming weekend away.

Hugs

Yup! Welcome to my world. Had BIG plans for yesterday (fri) BUT nope. Had a long work day, had to run an errand, frozen pipes, had to get stuff ready for a trade show for today. Looks like next week may have some time.:battingeyelashes:

Wow I can totally relate to this tread it happens to me all the time!

I can only dress a few times every 2 weeks because of my shifts at work, so I look so forwards to it, and then there always seems to be some sort of a family crisis or somebody puts holidays in or somebody decides to come home early!!!:Pullhair: never anything happens on the opposite week when I can't dress typical.

Hang in there your time will come, eventually:)

Cute post. Sorry your plans didn't work out.

Just a side note: enjoy your time with your child(ren). They grow up too soon and move away. You will have your time.
