View Full Version : Just barely stepped out of my comfort zone, but still proud of myself!

I finally got to go out again last night, after months of staying in.
My wife and I went to a gay bar we always go to, very safe and friendly.
We had a nice time listening to the piano and chatting with a few acquaintances.
Normally we drive home afterwards, stopping at Jack in the box or McDonalds for a late snack/early breakfast.
Last night, I suggested we should go eat at a local 24hr deli, my wife acted before I could change my mind, like I normally do, and headed to the place.
It is still most definitely in the gay part of town, but it is frequented by all.
I was under the influence, so that helped my bravado a little, though not my ability to walk in my heeled boots! I am sure I was stumbling around.
There were a few couples and a group or two of people, not real busy, but people all around.
We ordered, ate, and left.
Not very exciting compared to many of the things some of you girls do on a daily basis, but it was a step for me, and I am proud of myself for doing it.

Congrats, you should be proud. It all starts with small steps. Glad to hear you had a good time. Ashley
Don't knock it! That was TOTALLY exciting, wasn't it? Doesn't it still put a crap-eating grin on your face when you think back on it? I still remember my first time out in a public place (including unsteady on my heels) and it's a huge source of energy and happiness to me. You should be proud. Congratulations!

Oh I don't think that's a small step at all Allie, much more then what I've done lately, I'm envious......Congrats and glad you had a good time.
Thanks for sharing the moment.

Allie, so glad you had a good experience, drinking is quite the enabler, id happily trade drinking in for confidence though any day.
youve really gone above and beyond the call of duty in terms of making strides into the open in comparison to myself, all the power to you!

Thanks for acknowledging my achievement girls.
Ashley, all my steps are small, and way too far apart! lol.
Sarah, i would also prefer the confidence over the wine, and I have been out to dinner a couple times pre-drink, but it is always nervously even in a Cd friendly setting.
I hope to get much better at this eventually.
Jenny, you are right, it does give you a little boost to do something you wouldn't normally do. this is where I get stuck, I find a place I am comfortable in and stay there.
Victoria, like I said it has been a while since I have been out, I forget how much I miss it.

Well a little help to the bravado does help as long as you are aware and keep control.
Glad it was a successful step for you.

Hi Allie,
Congrats on the outing and any outing (exciting or not) is a good one. It is even nicer when you get to share it with someone you love.
