Does anyone remember the first time wearing tights or stockings? mine wear stolen from my mum's drawer when I was about 11 or 12 and I thought it was the most amazing feeling I'd ever had, anyway, that was the start of my secret life and till I found d this site I've never spoken about it to anybody so any thoughts would be great x

I am not sure if it was my first time, but one of my first memories would be when I was about 4-5 years old. It was Halloween of 1981 or 1982, and my mom made a home made Spider-Man costume. My parents were friends with our neighbor who also had kids my age. My costume was completed with a borrowed pair of red tights from the neighbor girl. I don't think this led to my cross dressing because I have other vague memories of experimenting with my moms clothing even before that costume.

It was a pair of tights that really made me want to explore this whole new world of girls/women's clothing. I was in 7th grade and had never really thought anything of female clothes. It's also about the time when I became interested in girls for the first time. A lot of new feelings going on.
The middle school was known for putting on a big play for the town every year with the 7th grade class. We did a production of "The Big Top", a circus play. Those who did not have major parts became extras: acrobats, clowns, etc.
I was an acrobat and needed a pair of tights for my costume. My mom was quite the resourceful woman, asked the woman next door if her daughter had a pair I could borrow. We were both about the same size, so I wound up with a pair of Terry's black tights. The first time I put them on was like nothing any boy clothes had ever done for me! The smooth fabric on my legs was so exciting. Also the thought that Terry had worn these was going thru my head as well!
I had to give them back after the show, but I knew I had to explore other pieces of women's clothes and see if they made me feel as good. Needless to say, mom's closet became my new source for exploration.
I'm still on that trip 45 years later! All thanks to a pair of black tights!

I do prefer stockings to tights, they are slightly more practical for men and they look far better than the tops of tights ! In fact one of my GFs wore two pairs of panties the outer ones to cover the look of tights which she hated !

For the past many years I have enjoyed hold-up/thigh-high stockings. I have difficulty understanding why women -those few who do - frequently don't wear hose, as hose definitely finishes both the look and feel of the clothes. Don't many of you agree that wearing a skirt without stockings just feels wrong?

I can sympathize with the other team to the extent that putting on tights is a pain in the backside, especially as the legs seem to twist and the crotch can sag and the damn things can run during the first wearing, making them expensive for everyday wear. That's where hold-ups bolstered with "It Stays" is the answer.

Truly, as the old hosiery commercial stated authoritatively, "Gentlemen prefer Hanes!" Anyway, WE do, whether Hanes or more upscale products. By the way, I find silk stockings nice, but not a huge tactile improvement over fine nylons.

I remember when I was 9 and we moved back to the town my grandparents had actually retired in. We stayed at their house for a short while, and one of the spare bedrooms had a dresser that was loaded with pantyhose that had just been sitting there. I know that no one else had used them. I couldn't help but try them on whenever I could sneak them. There was even a small sized strapless bra I slept in one night. I think it was actually a training bra. I was in heaven.

I can not remember the first time for nylon stockings, but I do remember by 10 years old, nylons were part of my ritual when dressing up. I remember being super careful bunching up each nylon and fitting it over my foot and then ever so carefully unravelling it and pulling it tight up my legs and thigh and then fiddling with the garter tabs of the girdle and finally pulling down the girdle legs over the stocking tops. Some of my mom's girdles had rubber grippers around the leg cuff that helped hold them down.

I also had to keep my mouth shut later in life (so I did not expose myself as a cross dresser) when I would watch girlfriends and my eventual wife would almost walk into their pantyhose & stockings and just yank them up, often putting runs in them. I wanted to yell, "That's not how a lady puts her nylons on!", but thought better of it and just let it go.

For as long as I can remember I used to put on stockings. Back in 94, I had an operation and woke up with stockings on. I had to wear those stockings during my recovery. I asked them how long I should wear them. They laughed and said I can wear them anytime.:devil: Well that only underscored my infatuation with them. I wear most thigh highs and garter belts. I do not know why women do not do that often. It is so sexy and feminine to have stockings and garter belts on under dress.

Can I remember the first time? Not distinctly, and while this wasn't my first foray into clothing-not-of-my-gender, I would have only been 8 or 9 when I first tried on a pair of mum's stockings... and from that day forth I was a devoted, pre-pubescent leg-man. And this being the era for the mass-marketing of tights (as we call hose here) my mother soon purchased a pair that she didn't take to wearing immediately (guess she didn't like them) and they were left lying around, undisturbed on a pile of laundry outside my bedroom for... oooh - days before I was tempted. I think she must have bought too small a pair but guess what? :) They were right for me and fit in all the right places... :eek: The resulting excitement was unexpected and quite... unconstrained...

I do think many of us selectively forget the early days and how intense the physical sensations were... and all that associative activity and the pleasurable feelings have certainly left their mark, but it's not the same anymore... Probably just as well really... ;)

Interesting how these experiences are soooo similar. I first dressed at 4. It was some kind of cheerleader bloomers from down in the basement. Then did not do it again until I was 10, pantyhose. Then it was on. I recall it like yesterday. I was at school and my teacher walked by my desk. My eyes centered on her stockinged legs and I swear it was like a light switch flipped on.
I couldn't wait to get home and I knew what my mission was going to be. This is such a commonality we share.

Tights, yes. In 4th grade we had to dress up in Revolutionary war era style for a play; black tights, with white sox on the outside of those, going up to our knees. The teacher had recommended black tights because well, I guess she thought of what SHE would wear for that appearance. No one said anything otherwise. So I show up the day of the play wearing black tights, knee high white socks. Every other boy just wore black pants with the socks on the outside. They had all talked amongst themselves, but of course, did not include me in the conversation (I was the class outcast). I had to put up with the sissy remarks about my choice of leg wear for a couple of years, whenever we had a class play, or whenever socks or tights came up in conversation. It's one reason I guess that I have no desire to ever be 'out'. Even at that young age, I learned what people really think and talk about behind our backs.

Yes!!! I was 9 or 10 years old my mother had left the house and wouldn't be back for a few hours. I took a pair of nude pantyhose from a box of clothes she didn't wear anymore along with a pair of satin panties it felt so incredible. I went on to put on this beautiful black and white dress she only wore a couple of times and a pair of black pumps. The heels were only about 2 inches but I felt great walking around the house for hours.

The first time I went out dressed (except for makeup) was Halloween 2003. My companion (who would eventually become my second wife) and I went to a showing of Rocky Horror on the Cornell campus. However, the deal was that you could get in free if you crossdressed. Say no more!!

My first wife and I separated a few weeks before. To my surprise, she left behind a dress, a wig, low heeled pumps and a purse. The dress was a bit frumpy, but you shouldn't look a gift horse in the mouth. A couple of months earlier I had purchased a matching bra and panty set. I did a homemade set of forms. But, the outfit was only complete when my companion found a pair of thigh length woolen stockings.

I just belatedly ran across this thread, and I'm astounded by the similarities among the responses, which mostly are identical to mine, to wit:

When I was 4 or 5, we lived in an old house that had a single, central walk-in closet in which we all kept our clothes. My mother was in the habit of throwing her nylons on the floor with her shoes. I would sit on the closet floor and fondle the nylons, without understanding why. Then we moved, and the temptation was no longer there in our new house, which had individual closets.

But when I was about 11 I went into the bathroom one day and was compelled to try on her nylons that were hanging on the door knob. I was just entering puberty (of which I knew nothing) and discovered that upon sliding them up my legs I was instantly aroused. Needless to say I've been recreating the experience ever since. I never did adapt well to pantyhose, which are "overly constraining" and don't feel as silky. As the years went by I branched out gradually to full dressing, but nylon stockings are still my "go-to" item of choice.

MW, I like your use of "go-to item of choice". It could describe an item a person "likes" a lot, more than other items, or items that by themselves can excite and arouse, and everything between. For me, these items are my fetish objects, but some people don't like to admit having a fetish. I like stockings in all forms: stockings, pantyhose, thigh-highs, tights, etc. I like how they look and feel, but most of all I like how my legs and feet look in them while wearing high heels (one of my go-to items). Stockings are not a go-to item for me, but I have never transformed without them. Some things are magical for me. Stockings aren't, but they are important and essential to my crossdressing.

I, too, started with one thing and , over the years, branched out gradually to full dressing. To me, the pleasure is maximized when combining those go-to items and supporting them with all the other things that may not by themselves be go-to items.

I started by wearing tights to cover my leg hair. But after shaving my legs and wearing something sheer, WOW.
