I'm on another business trip and it's become abundantly clear to me that I'm getting increasingly irritated with having to use my male name. Its not so much the flashing of id but more the being referred to in my male name when presenting female that's beginning to drive me nuts. I can pretty much safely say that it's not so much a lack of passing that's my issue; as most everyone I interact with are very polite and professional.

All of my bookings ... air, Hotel, rental car etc are done through our corporate booking and since I'm yet not out at work I inherit my male name in the process. So as folks go about their business they drive their conversation mostly from wha their screen says or what the id says. Case in point... Leaving the car rental place in the car the attendant had no way to see anything above mid torso... Passed rental agreement and license... And got the obligatory mr. Xxx your fuel is ok... Need a map...blah blah blah... Argh.... At least at the hotel since I'm there regularly and the usual attendant was present I got a nice hello Jennifer from her as she's well aware even through booking says otherwise.

For me this trip so far has been yet another indication of the progress I'm making and the need to continue to address coming milestones as there's a growing momentum driving me.

Beyond the name issue I did get a little extra special treatment at the airport going through security in Toronto yesterday when the detector "found" something it didn't expect. I got pulled aside for additional screening in a private area. A bit of a pain but handled well. But I digress.

At home I have really no issue for the most part... I go about my day... No real need to use any I'd as such... Transactions are simply insert your visa punch some buttons and move on. But traveling is clearly showing me how ready I am to address my name which in the process means a coming out at work. Without the work constilation aspect I'd be submitting the paperwork on Monday.

All the joys of transitioning.

Cheers... Jennifer

Ya, I can only imagine how irritating that must be. I still travel in male mode, so I don't have that experience, but I can see it happening as I progress and name change doesn't keep pace with physiological changes. At least your reaction to the situation is yet another affirmation you are on the right track! :w00t:

But not much longer and your id will match! That's worth a trip to margaritaville:)

Hope the rest of the trip goes well.
