I went to a clothing store recently while presenting male wearing a black top, a black and tan striped maxi skirt, black hose and heels. Across the store, I saw a woman whom I recognized. She is the wife of a man whom I barely know. She probably would recognize me and know who I was if she saw me. I would have predicted that in that circumstance that I would have ran from the store in fear. But I didn't. Instead, I just stayed far away from her. I kept alert about where she was in the store. But I didn't let her stop me from shopping. When did I get so comfortable with my crossdressing!?! I used to be frightened until I was shaking when I would go out.

By the way, I made the happy discovery that wearing a maxi skirt means I can go out in the summer while my legs are not shaved. It's like I just discovered penicillin!

Hi Johanne,

Congrats on getting comfortable being who you need to be and I am glad you manage to hang in there at the store. Maxi skirts/dresses are great (shaved legs or not :))

She would have no idea who you were shopping for.

Staying relaxed is the best plan as panic would just make her suspicious.

Um, how is that outfit "presenting male?"

Presenting Male = no makeup, or wig. Just my normal male head on my normal male body in pretty clothes. :)

Hi Johanne, I was once in K-MART with some lingerie and tops when I saw my pain in the @$$ sister in law
and was able to avoid her because she would've known that what I had was not for my wife.:daydreaming:

I wouldn't say you were "presenting make" if you were wearing a skirt, hose and heels. And of course, that's the way to out yourself, your normal male head and face but female clothing.

It seems you don't care, yet you hid from this woman. Confusing.

Presenting the way you did you deserve to get busted.

I have come face to face with people I know whilst dressed and only once did I get a lingering glance.

Wow ! If you didn't want to get outed, going out like that is playing with dynamite! Without the wig and makeup you really would draw extra attention to yourself. Just my 2 cents. :)

I always present male when I crossdress. I agree it is riskier than changing my appearance with makeup, wig, etc. I don't own any makeup or wig.

I'm surprised by the confusion about this. Interesting...
I was simply a man wearing a skirt. I was presenting male. People see me and call me 'sir'. Just like when my wife wears one of my men's shirts, she is still presenting female. I was wearing no makeup, no wig and no bra. I did not alter my voice. Just a man in pretty clothes.
