Yesterday welshgirl and I travelled 400 miles round-trip (a long way in congested windy english roads), to meet with Nikki, who was over from France.
Obviously I was dressed - in hot pink mainly (cami-tunic and tunic top, nails), purple fleece and leggings, bright stripey socks and sandals. Welshgirl was lovely of course and Nikki was dressed in some lovely androgynous hippy-style cloth. We long lunched and walked the beach and a tourist town. Obviously the highlight was the time with Nikki, but there was a moment of deliciousness.
An old lady (90+?) was escorted into the pub, and as she saw me she gave me the biggest beaming smile and eye contact I think I've ever had. Made my day - and probably hers!
While i think folks are careful to avoid making astonished eye contact face-to-face, I had feedback from welshgirl that there was many an astonished jaw-drop, but nothing hostile to report.
Strange thing though, my car parking was not its usual efficient self - does dressing en-femme cause men to lose their innate powers? (joke)
