Do we have any/many over 5'11" or plus size girls here?
These days we try to embrace all body types as CDs. (right?)

My journey has been in this space all my life and being a Lane Bryant-ish type CD
has been a joy personally.

As i matured, it was simpler for me to 'pass' and even not stick out in a crowd from a distance.

So thats' my question: Are there more curvy/plus/over 5'11" girls about?

I have raised my hand to begin the conversation. My size is 18w/20w (was 24w), 6' tall and many of my outfits are ebay/LB/Catharines finds. Suits, dresses and LB jeans are the best! Shoes range from flats to 3" heels.

Your turn.:battingeyelashes:

hi char, here's a reply from a 6' Bree CD gone onto TS, heels fine in tall company or for fun girly company, I just don't need them for usual day to day get the shopping in stuff. Usual style is leggings, and layers under warm top - it's winter in NZ

6'0" and curvy. I have no problem finding panties that fit nicely, but I've pretty much given up on clothes because I wasted too much money on items that didn't fit. I have one dress that fits okay; decided to stick more with panties and stretchier things like yoga pants that are more forgiving, size-wise.

I think I can identify with you. I'm 5-9 and 250#. I pretty well fit a size 18 or 20, and 10 or 11 shoe and 40 C bra size. I have a large round torso...beer gut, but I don't let it stop me. I've found a lot of dresses and skits at Cato's, Dress Barn, Ross and Dillard's. I've been going out in public for many years and feel I can go almost anywhere and be treated like a real lady. It's great and I just really love being out in normal life a my feminine self.

I'm 6'4" which makes some clothing too short to wear, I'm a size 10.5uk in male shoes so getting suitable sizes is a real challenge and heels certainly rule out blending as I tower over people as it is.
I'm a size 14uk in the legs although I can get into a 12. I really just have a gut that I want to lose and I'd be fairly satisfied with myself over all

I'm 6' around 230 so yes I think there are lot of us out there who fit that description. My wife shops Lane Bryant and Catherine's I haven't gotten anything for me there, I have several things from ebay, a bunch of stuff from Woman Within. You should check out the web site full beauty they have plus size things there. I also haunt the thrift shops when I get a chance I got two pair of really nice jeans last summer at a thrift shop for I think $4.oo.

Hey Sarah! Nice to meet you ! I'm lucky to have a women's size 12 foot and enjoy a large array of style.
Closeted Shoe hound here! My shoulders can be an issue but a separates help with a suit for example. I can upsize the jacket to 22w say and get a skirt 18-20w. No padded shoulders needed. We have different challenges and compromises like are demure and petite counterparts. It is all good fun.

Thankfully I am in fairly good shape and can blend in with a bevy of plus beauties. Sass and confidence go a long way.
Even our walk in heels is unique. Thanks for sharing and stay in touch.

Hugs,

Pamela GF you got this- really! Thanks for reaching out. I'm in the 200plus club also but active and weigh-reducing as we speak.
Let's chat sometime if only to encourage one another - i am interested in seeing you progress and support you as i can, OK? There is too much out here to enjoy and we all need to dive into the diva pool together!!

I'm a tall girl at 6"2 and stay with shorter heels. No more the 3 inches usually. I've got the 50s pooch in my gut and hard to get rid of. I can wear a womens 18 in dresses but a 16w or 18w works good too.
14 in jeans though love that.

I'm 6'2 265 lbs. I love Torrid. I also shop online at eshakti a lot. I can customize length and other things. Problem is, a lot of my full length dresses are measured with 3" heels. Oops. So I have a few that are too long to wear with flats.

Oh my goodness Sarah Beth my Full Beauty card is nearly full!! They are another place to purchase nice things when you know your size well. Besides ebay, Catharines and LB are my favorite place to shop.
Order online and sent to a store for pickup. Even have an LB card and the girls know me by real name and identity there.
Very comfortable ppl there. Other GGs look at me funny as the staff wait on me. I'm a good customer :)

The shorts im wearing in my avatar are LB double weave knit suit shorts 18w. Need the matching blazer next :)

You look great Paula and i love your confidence. My feeling is we all need to try harder and cover more so being bold (not brash) make us unique!

Like you i have moved well past caring what others out there think and am very comfortable in who am i.
On the other hand I step back and care for those who still need a word or more support.

I've shopped LB and Catherine's back when I was much much bigger and was always satisfied with my look.
No where near as tall as you girls but being short and fat had its issues too.
Both are great stores if you are plus sized.

Gwinnie! Torrid is right next store to my LB! Yeah i am particular about the hemline too.
Especially with say a skirt and flats. Most of my flats are worn with jeans, shorts and a top.

My 'legshow' with a business suit or fancy dress is with heels from 2 to 3 inches.
Knee length is comfortable for me. I dont full dress all the time but half dress (bottom dress) most of my time.

Thanks for sharing !

Hi Traci- in my world (imperfect one) no one is that 3-letter 'f' word! We all have issues and challenges.
I think you height is an advantage I know for me if i could 'loose' about 3-5 inches of height i'd be closer to the average GG. So not happening for me.
Its nice to meet you and for as long as my journey has come everyone wins here.
We support each other.

Hi Brandy - welcome!
Panties can be hard since places like Full Beauty use a number like "7" for an 16/18w panty.
I share your frustration here.

Thrift stores and ebay are your friend until you can comfortably get your size online.

Been down the road and have no better thing to say about it.

Stretchy always works right?

Hey thanks for checking in today.

I'm six foot even and 195-198 pounds morning weight. I'm 42 inches in the chest and 38 in the waist. Am I able to find clothing that fits me other than bras and panties? You bet, but, it is not easy. Last count I have 118 dresses. Most of my dresses are bought on eBay. The biggest problem is finding a dress with a natural waist that corresponds to my waist. It's impossible. The dresses with a defined waist calling for a belt look similar to a guy pulling his pants up to his nipples. The solution for me is dresses that have an empire waist which gathers at the breasts/bra or sheaths of wraps. At my senior age dresses that are way above the knee really do not fit my style. Since most dresses are made for misses sizes (5'7") I carefully read any measurements, especially the side seam. The same for buying full slips. Knowing the length of the side seams will tell me where the dress or slip will hit at the knee. Over the last 2-3 years I have been able to find maxi summer dresses at Sears with an empire waist that hit at the top of my feet. I thought I'd never find any dresses. If an average height woman were to wear one of them, she'd be dragging the hem of the dress all over the place. Shoes are a big problem, although foot size does not necessarily correlate to just larger women.

Being larger and taller than the average women's size is a challenge, but, it is not without hope. When I was a young guy my weight was a plus with the young women. Now? Well, as a mature woman I'd really prefer being five foot seven.

You're my kind of girls!

I am 6'5" (1.95m) in my bare feet and size 16.
UK11 in male shoes.

If I want to pass I'm probably going to have to use some of that forced perspective they used in Lord of the Rings.
I kinda want to be glam and stand out, but I would've liked the standing out to have been my choice.

People seem to be generally getting taller, so by the time I'm a shrunken, decrepit old man 6'5" will probably be average for GGs.

Hard to pass, isn't it? But, I keep trying as I just want to be another woman on the street. 6'1", 220lbs. Broad shoulders with a flat butt.

It's good to hear from others with similar problems. I like to see women that are tall and compare. The other day I stood behind a 6 foot flight attendant, broad shoulders, hairy arms, flat butt and manly nose, although she was very cute. Was she TG or just built that way? Either way, she was not stared at. Recently, I spied a mother and daughter just about the same as the FA. So, there are women who are actually built like us, or us like them. Gives me encouragement that sometimes we can pass good enough.

About 5'11" to 6'0", around 270. size 11 womens shoe, size 3x 22-24. 42C/D bra size. JC Penney, Sears are two popular places i get clothes. sometimes choice can be limited. Also try Burlington. Usually wear heels around 4" most of the time, but have a pair of flats when the need arises and some wedges.

A big Thank you to all of you that have replied to the thread.
great showing don't you think?

It is clear that we have simliar challenges with our special requirements as plus or tall girls.

My point of this was by way of introduction there many girls like me here.

A youtube search finds very few to none and i just think the reason maybe they feel it not worth the effort.

When things calm down in my world i have some ideas that i will try there.

Girls need to represent! :)

<big round of applause for all the girls in this thread> woo hoo !!!!!

I'm with you, charlene, at 5-11 and somewhere north of 250. I don't like Catherine's or LB so much, but I've gotten some nice things from Roaman's. They're all the same company btw.

As for shoes, I take a size 12 men's, so it's awfully hard to find anything in a women's size, but the search is never-ending LOL. Nothing higher than 3 inches for me.

I'm on the edge of plus size - 5' 11" tall in stocking feet, and 190 or so pounds. 36 inch waist but a 40-C chest. I wear a size 14 to 16 skirt but an 18 to 20 top and size 11 shoes. I can often get away with a 1x or 2x women's top, and sometimes just a Large, rather than going to the 'plus size' product lines. Haven't tried shopping at Lane Bryant yet. I walk by that store pretty often when mall walking, but the clothes they have had on display just haven't whistled at me yet.

I'll happily wear 3" heels, and if people think I'm too tall, I really don't care. I know GG's that are much taller.

5'11" and about 195# here. I like some Lane Bryant clothing, but typically shop Macy's and Lord & Taylor sale racks. I just think they have nicer styles and the clothes are a bit more tailored. I had some great luck finding things in the sale racks at great prices.

Size wise I'm 18-20 tops (42B) and bottoms are misses 14. I stay mainly with separates as it's so hard to find dresses that fit that range and look like they aren't just bags. Also it gives me lots of flexibility in outfits with fewer pieces.
Shoes are mostly 11W and range from flats and sneakers to 3" heels.

It took me losing damn near 200 pounds before I felt comfortable enough to go out dressed as Caden. I was 6'02 Tall, 447 pounds, size 14 feet, built like an overweight linebacker. I've since lost two hundred, I wear a size 13 shoe, which is far easier to fit than a 14, take it from me, I'm a size 20/22 or 22/24 depending on the shop. (By the way, Long Tall Sally has he most big sized shoe options I've found) I started wearing a 52B bra, and I'm now wearing a 46D, oddly, I'm still using the same prosthetics. I'm about to go down yet another band size very soon.

I adore the outfits at Lane Bryant and Catherine's. They have been my saviors as far as finding fashionable stuff I can wear. Well that and eBay. As for Brandy, you cannot give up on your sizing issues. I'm willing to bet there is stuff out there which will fit you. There are lots of conversion charts which will help you find the comparative size which corresponds with mens sizes. I wasted a lot of money on stuff that didn't work as well. But once you get it dialed in, you will enjoy thigns like you've never enjoyed them before. You will feel like your world has opened up to you.

Ever & Always,

I'm 6'0", somewhere between 220 and 230. I have the same gut problem that most do, it's too large. I usually take a size 18 on top, partially due to my shoulders. I can fit a 16 below usually, but sometimes not. My feet aren't too large, a ladie's size 11, which is difficult, but not impossible to find. I like about a three inch heel, but haven't tried any spikes yet, so I don't know if I can walk in them. I do most of my shopping at thrift stores and at rummage sales. I'm more comfortable looking through women's clothing at the rummage sales that in the thrift stores, but with some friends with me, I'm sure I'll be more apt to search much longer.

At six four, and right now 285 (weight fluctuates as i diet and go off), over the years I've picked up what I want from various places. xdresser.com had jersey material maids uniforms a few years back, which were stretchy and so fit me no matter what size I am. sexyschoolgirlskirts.com from Seneca clothing was my only source for plaid pleated skirts until I found Torrid. Lane Bryant now goes under several names and has also bought out Roamans and a few other catalog sellers for big and tall women, and I found my cute peter pan collar plain white tops there a few years ago too. My current favorite bras are the keyhole design, formerly available at Lane Bryant but now at shopnational.com. With size 15 to 16 feet, I get my shoes from various places, Pleaser shoes has lots of designs but no standard sizing; one style size 14 will fit, another requires 16, and some size 15 are so tight I'd have to cut my toes off just to get into them. Amazon is good for those so I can return what doesn't fit. Ebay has lots of things, and most important, has numerous vendors who will custom sew any of their designs in huge sizes. What you'll have to be careful of is making your measurements very, very carefully, because there's no way to make any alterations; I usually add about an inch or two to various measurements (such as sleeve thickness, I've got overly large biceps which I guess folks in China can't understand so anyone here should note that if you're going to order from there) everything just to be sure. Most of thier designs are then manufactured in cotton material and so will shrink in the wash too, so consider that as well. I have picked up several gothic lolita dresses, as well as a cute sailor girl school uniform dress from a chinese vendor as well. They even make custom size 16 shoes for me, my last purchase was a sailor moon 'jupiter' dress and shoes. Thigh high stockings, Leg Avenue makes queen size with white bows that sell for about $7 a pair on amazon or ebay which stay up rather well for casual wear, but of you're going to walk around a lot you'll need garters. and of course Birchplaceshop.com for sissy dresses and lacy short maids uniforms.

OMG I am not alone. I get so envious of the 5'7" petite girls. I am 6'1" 270 lbs. 48 c 38w 13-14 shoes with a long torso. The quest to find clothes that fit and look good is tough. It is a separates kind of world for me. Dresses for the most part fall way funny. Shoes are getting better. There seems to be more large sizes being produced and they are not all drag queen shoes.

Hi Vicky!
You are no alone and be happy in you are becoming!
The average 5'6 GG so much the idea of the perfect 'pass model' not taking away any of that.

Many us of can find our own 'glam' self in who we are.

It takes awhile to go down that road on your journey and it comforts me to know that we have each other to support in this.

Sometimes I will see a nice pic of a CD or TS dress in cute business attire and spot on yes they are truly a sight, 'passing' easily.

We (i do) have to remind myself of my self image dressed up and smile inside knowing that I'm not that size 8 or 12 person.

This girl has learned to be satisfied and comfortable in her own skin. My confidence went into the stars when this happened about 5 years ago.

Hugs!

Large breasts look funny, small breasts now leave a gut out. I am intersted in the cowgirl look since i am from texas originally. Any suggestions?

Hi Charlene, 5' 11" 210 lbs , size 2X with forms, but have found the joy of shape wear. Heard mention on this site of a Latex vest waist cincher ( Hourglass Angel ).
With that little miracle I can fit in 1X , my own fluff pushed around to small C cup and with a little hip padding, have a passable figure. Saving grace is size10 feet,
the shoe possibilities are endless, not the pocketbook. As you know, in Florida it's not just the humidity, it is the HEAT.

I am 6ft 265lb and have often shoppend at LB. In fact, my only outing was to LB and the SA actually commented on my sweater being from their line the previous year and that she loved it on me. I have found that their panties tend to fit about the best for me being a little wider in the crotch than most. I have also become quite fond of Old Navy. They have some great deals and have gotten some great dresses, jeans, swimwear, shorts, and tanks all pretty cheap. Their XXL usually fits me and they have plus size online too. Even better they have a good selection of talls. This was a great post to get to know more girls like me on here!

At 6'2" and 272 lbs, more athletic than average build. I have found that dress size 18(UK) and 11 shoes are a good fit. My 34" legs look fab in stockings and tights. I use body/shapewear to shape my body, using hip pads and my own homemade wide elastic belt(without any buckles) that under a body/shapewear, and butt panties. I manage to achieve a feminine 42-38-44, which to me looks lovely. I love the feel of dresses against my body and have found that The Kim & Co dresses are superb. They feel great and fit my body perfectly because of their stretchy/slinky material. My ex-wife used to buy Kim & Co off of QVC on the TV. I soon discovered that even a size S/S had enough stretch in it to fit my frame. I now have a large wardrobe of Kim & Co with sizes from S through to L. Great for the larger person.

I am about 6' 2" and 12 and a half stone (whatever that is in pounds!) and have always been relatively slim. I have in the past few years developed a bit of a gut tho which I am starting to really dislike especially now I am dressing more. It just looks rubbish!

I live in the UK and my shops of choice are Long Tall Sally which specialise in tall women's clothing and large shoes and Next also have a good range of clothes but their shoes don't go up to the UK11 I wear. It's hard to find large shoes that I like so a lot of my collection comes from the US via Ebay.

I am 6'3 and 248 in guy mode. I try and make myself have curves when Amanda is around. I feel more like myself bigger with more curves.

PS. Sorry not trying to offend anyone. But that is my opinion.

At 6'4" and around 210-215 pounds, dressing is a challenge. Going outside the home I do not even consider as an option as I would never see myself as "passable". I wear sizes 20-24 or 1 to 3X, and sizes 14 or 15 shoes, depending on sizing and fit. I love long and maxi dresses, cardigans and flats. I find plus sized clothes and lingerie easy to find, and have found how most stores gauge there sizing over time, which helps save time and frustration. Shoes now are mostly from Long Tall Sally. I love the Blowfish flats.

There are days when I would love to wear a pretty long dress, a bit of make up, a small amount of jewelry, and flats out to work or shopping or whatever, but the world still and my vanity in not passing prevents.

I'm 6ft, 200lbs. At Dress Barn, If a dress comes in a 16w it fits like a dream. Elsewhere 16 or 18, Lg, XL, or 2xl, every brand fits different.

My size is about 18-20w but I'm on the short side of the male spectrum. I wear heels around a 12 plus or minus a size depending on the shoe. When I go out, I don't know if I'm good enough to pass because I'm too busy trying not to look at anyone. :)

Just shopped at Lane Bryant today. They had a huge assortment of bras in my size (44DD). Shopping experience (en drab) was relaxed, no-drama. I browsed the racks, picked out the two bras I wanted, and took them to the register. The girl there discovered that one of the bras was not the size that the hanger said it was, so we both marched back to the racks. She helped me find the right size and style. Paid the bill and off I went. Leaving the store, I wondered for a minute whether she figured I was shopping for myself, but then I realized -- it doesn't matter, because she treated me with the same respect she'd give a GG customer.

6' 2" 245 Lbs here. Still having a bit of trial and error buying clothes that fit. The main reason is that most of my clothing thus far has been purchased directly from sellers in Asia and the charts are in Asian sizing which is very different from the Western market sizes, especially when it comes to plus sizes. I'll definitely check out Lane Bryant.

At 6'1" and 220# there was definitely a learning curve figuring out my sizes and where to shop. Dress barn, and Roamans have always been a great source for me, as well as Ebay and Goodwill
