Hi all,
I will be in Los Vegas from the 21st to the 4th of August and was wondering what would be the best to wear, I’m 60 years young but a little over weight 205 pounds, wow that sounds a lot, better in kilos, I want to blend in and not stand out like a sore toe. I know it is very hot over there as it is summer; here in Australia it is winter and rather chilly. Yes I know I should wear appropriate clothes for my age, but what is appropriate? I’m certainly not waiting until I get there to see what other ladies are wearing. Buying a whole new outfit will add to the cost of the trip.
If I get to do it, I will only be going out at night and staying along the strip, so I don’t need anything fancy, just casual, preferably a skirt and top or a dress, no pants or shorts.

This will be my first time out fully dressed where there are a lot of people, but I think I will be ok.

Mind you I may not get a chance to dress, as I was silly and told my daughter that I was thinking of going to Los Vegas, so now she wants to come with me, she knows about my cross dressing, but I don’t know how she will react if I tell her what I want to do there.

Here's hoping for some advice soon.
Cheers Rhonda

Hey Sis! Vegas is the same right now as Ayres Rock is in January. Now if you're visiting that area of Austrailia AND had access to A/C, that will give you an idea of the weather in Vegas thru September. Skorts, shorts, light weight tops would work. Loose clothes will work the best. Night time will be a bit cooler and you can wear stuff for 23c or so. Some places are over air conditioned, so a handy cover may be needed. Have fun!

Hello there, sister from down under.

If you want to look like a typical American woman today, gain a lot of weight, don't fix up your hair, wear very little or no makeup. A baggy t shirt, shorts from Walmart and flip-flops. You'll blend right in.

Sorry girls, I couldn't resist. Sad, but mostly correct.

Rhonda, it's as hot as the sun in LV right now. Shorts and T-shirt will be the norm during the day. For night time, anything goes but we all know what age appropriate is even though there are many here who rail against it. Casual is the norm, for sure.

I had a few friends who went to vegas for the UFC fight and it was 35 degree's celcius which just sounds horrible, I dont know if I could dress in that heat.
If you are worried about your weight you could try a maxi dress, they are elasticated long flowing summery dresses that are quite popular, theyre very light so you stay cool too.

I just got back from Vegas yesterday, and every single style was clearly visible at all hours.

One thing I noticed a lot of during the day were jumpers with jeweled sandals. At around 7 pm, all the little dresses and gorgeous heels came out to play in full force.

I was mostly paying attention to the younger crowd, though, because I'm always amazed at the looks they can pull off. For the women who appeared 40+, they were mostly dressed in colorful button down tops (very light materials) and slacks/capris, with sandals of varying fabulousity.

Vegas had everyone of every size and style and no one batted an eyelash at anyone else (except the woman whose only "clothing" on top was simply electrical tape over her nipples).

I would suggest dressing the way genetic women your age dress in your area in hot weather. For evening, you can fancy it up a bit with a dress or blouse and skirt and some jewelry.

If your daughter goes with you, two women out and about will be a lot less obvious than you walking the streets at night alone.

When I go to Vegas in the dead of summer I usually wear denim skirts and light sleeveless tops. Last time I was there, the thermometer read 121 degrees. I spent most of my time indoors.

If you want to blend as a woman your age, then Capris or Bermuda shorts and some kind of loose T-shirt type of top or knit blouse are the way to go.

Hi There :)

I Live here in Vegas. This time of year we are mostly in triple digits (105 and above). I would suggest wearing lighter weight fabrics that will help you stay cooler. As for "Typical" clothing for Las Vegas, there really isn't one. We have people from all over the world come here and they all wear different things so wear what makes you feel comfortable.

Most of all people who have never been here are never really ready for our heat levels and it can cause heat related health issues, so please remember while your here to stay hydrated (drink lots of water and not just the alcohol the casinos will gladly supply :battingeyelashes:) and have some fun

Sissy, that outfit will be fine for your age and you'll blend right in. Have a fantastic time.

Next, visit the California coast, it's wonderful.

Yep, I have almost lived in Vegas over the years and the words are "keep it simple."

Summer dresses, sandals, flip-flops or, if you are going to walk a lot - which happens in Vegas (some of those casinos are enormous), a good pair of athletic shoes. Also, shorts, cotton tops, a stylish hat (if you walk the strip the sun can be brutal) and makeup with a good sunscreen.

And a light sweater for when the temp drops at night or the air-conditioning is set to polar temperatures.

Oh, and make sure you go see "Ka" at the MGM; saw it again last month and it's still awesome.

Oh, and if you go to Boulder Dam, it can get up to 130 degrees out there... but it's worth the trip and only about a 30 to 40 minute drive from Vegas.
