I just filed my papers to change my name today. Suzanne Nicole Ford. I floated out of the court house!
California makes it expensive, $435 to be exact. Best money I ever spent.

Someday soon for me. My wife gave me the okay to move forward in my transition tonight.

Getting that done was one of the big affirming actions in my path. For comparison, a name and gender change in Utah is $360. Happiness isn't always free.

WTG, congrats Ms. Ford. Government will take your money anyway they can, but this is money well spent.

Official name change in UK can vary, it cost me £70, then official gender change is another £140, so £210 in all for me ($328 in funny money :p )

These are small steps on the road to transition, however, very validating :)

Congratulations.
Getting my driving licence was the bit that meant the most, I think because it has my picture on it too.

I am about to do the same. Filing fees in Southeast Florida are $401.00, but will be oh, so worth it.

Suzanne;

Equally congrats to you as well. Just a simple piece of paper in the end with huge results in the end. God love the government with the costs and associate paperwork. I think my application was 26 pages and 139$ for the name change + 24$ to post.

I know exactly how you feel as I patiently await the returned results. No fan fair sending but I know on its return it will be happy dance time in a very big way.

Sounds like we are waiting together.

Again congrats.
Cheers... Jennifer

Congratulations, Ms. Ford! It's a $185 filing fee in Iowa. I'm now having trouble with the gender change though.

Hugs,

Leah

Congratulations! It's a wonderful feeling, isn't it? Name and gender-marker change cost $300 in Texas, plus the $500 for an attorney to prepare the order and make sure to get in front of a sympathetic judge.

Congratulations, Suzanne. The day you go before the judge and get the order will be the best day ever!

Congratulations Ms Ford, let us know how it feels when the postman delivers it.

Jeri, it is good news about your wife. Perhaps you could start a thread to tell us more.
