I Was Ma'amed this past weekend.

Yes, I was 'ma'amed' while out on a bike ride. A car pulled up along side of me and a woman rolled down her window and asked for directions by saying "Ma'am, can you tell me how to get to....".

I wasn't wearing anything but panties with male clothes over the top of those. From behind I have broader shoulders and I weigh well over 250#. The only thing I could think of was I do have longer than 'normal' hair but then again not excessively long. When I'm dressed and fully made up I would never be recognizes as a woman. My clothes that day were very male.:o

Were you riding a girls bicycle? Was it pink? I'm guessing it was the hair.

The English language doesn't have a good word to use when you're not sure if the person you are addressing is a male or female. "Hey you!" seems impolite.

It happens to me all the time. I never go out dressed and my wife and I are frequently called "ladies". I even get maamed on the phone and I do not have a feminine voices.
