After a year of HRT I've just returned from my second annual mamogram. For those who may not know, this is basically a proceedure where they place your breasts, one at a time, between two surfaces and squeeze them flat while you whimper. When your whimpers turn to howls they back off a notch.
Not really, it isn't as bad as all that. But it is an interesting experience.
Because I feel smaller than normal, I did remind the technician that I'm transgendered. "I remember," she said.
We then had snipets of very comfortable conversation as she positioned me in the machine and took the pictures.
We talked about how many television shows there now are and she said, "Yes, but you were transgendered before it was cool."
I told her I actually have a shirt with that printed on it!
At the end she said, "You definitely have more tissue than last year, and it is more female than it was last year. And you're not as small as you think you are, I had to use the medium template."
So, all in all a pleasant experience. Now I just have to wait for the results.
