i suppose this merits a new thread. Last night, as I noted in another thread, ironically on the topic of not being on the same team, I came out to as transsexual to the members of my board of directors. This morning, I had coffee with the vice chairman, as myself, as a woman, for the first time.

Let me state emphatically that this was not an impulsive act. After 35 months of pondering and weighing the pros and cons, the time had simply come. This was a necessary step and I feel good about it.

Congratz Kim...!!! :cheer: Woo Hoo!

What a phenomenal step to take and you have my very best wishes that all goes well... I can't help but think your rational and balanced approach to everything should be a hefty factor in your further acceptance, and - of course - everything that has gone on media-wise in the past 6 months to bring trans issues to broader (if not better) understanding.

Perhaps now there would be few important folk for you to be out to (I hope I'm right there) we might actually get a pic of the real Kim and be able to put a face to the person...? :) C'mon - you know how visually oriented us CDers are...

Really pleased for you and wishing you very much success... :hugs:

So common, how did it go?

Was it awkward, ok? How did you feel and how do you think the vice chairman dealt with it?

That is me, Katey...I confess, I am a multi wing experimental aircraft. For the longest time I've been taxing back and forth, testing the controls and reviewing my checklists. So, I finally soloed. Now to bring this baby back in for a safe landing.

Bex, it was surprisingly easy, both the conversation last night and the reveal this morning. Two hours later, when I left their house, we hugged and really it was great. I can't say how the other board members felt. Time,of course, will tell.

My vice chair, his partner and many board members are gay, which may seem unusual but it's related to the nature of our mission. I think now they understand that my commitment to the organization is rooted in things beyond professional or financial interests.

Stef, it's not an occasion for condolences;). Will I face challenges? Such is life. But I doubt that anything ahead will come as a surprise.

Well if they'd objected you could always have fired them...

Happy landings ace!

Wow, Kim! So excited and pleased for you!!!

I must admit, you caught me by total surprise (as you evidently caught a few other folks!). I had no idea that you were ready to jump out of the plane!

You are one of the folks I regard most highly around here. I wish you every bit of success in your future journey. So happy for you.

Hugs,
Persephone.

I'll acknowledge that I tend to keep my own counsel. I do listen, sometimes hear, and occasionally learn from those around me.

All the talk of teams and tribes aside, I try to plan and act in a manner that advances my personal needs while accommodating my other responsibilities and the people in my life to the extent I can. We shall see.
