Well, I had "the chat" one more time with more professional colleagues last night. Details are in my journal post, (but I know that not everyone goes there). They are two principal partners that I have known for 20 years and worked with for the past 10 years. They contract me to provide counsel to some of their clients as part of their full service firm. It is "part time work" outside of my regular job. It is not a lot of work only about 20 clients a year, but I enjoy it and keeps me on my toes so to speak. Anyway, they are totally supportive and see no issues at all moving forward. They will do whatever they have to for business as usual. Their caring and compassion was overwhelming, and they are just so happy and relieved that I can finally be who I am and be happy for the first time....in well...forever ! A relief for me for sure.

So, another conversation with a positive result......a small victory....

It is such a relief when work comes together. I am happy for you as it starts to make it easier not worrying about work as much.

Erin,

It is wonderful that your partners were so supportive and understanding. I wish all of our co-workers could be that way. All the best with your client work!

Erin,
Way to go! I appreciate what courage this takes more every day. Keep moving forward and I will be joining you as a professional woman on the other side of all this. Jennifer just sent me her plan for transition at work. It is quite an undertaking. I pray that all of us who are facing this find peace on the other side of it!

It seems like the first year is just a series of coming outs.

over and over again.

True friends always remain true friends. It's the superficial ones that cause issues and, in the fullness of life, are superficial friendships really that important?

I am not so desperate to keep my fair-weather friends that I will compromise my self-worth for them.
