Going through my usual process of trying to figure a way I could get into my car and out again without being seen, the only thing that stops me from taking a drive and it hit me that one of the greatest assets all of us could have is an attached garage with an automatic door opener. Unfortunately I don't have one.
Still, I am indulging more and more in underdressing and wear panities almost all the time now

I have a trap door under my car and a tunnel to it from my bedroom that works pretty well (when I don't take the helicopter)...OK, just kidding...I dont have a helicopter 😉 Seriously though, I have the ssme problem and I'm pretty sure I'm out to my neighbors because of it but my solution is to just plain not give a fudge! (YMMV) 😉

Well without knowing exactly what you're dealing with as far as surroundings go, I can't give any suggestions but on my street the houses are in VERY close proximity (zero-lot lines and about 18ft of road width from driveway to driveway entrance.) I have actually stepped out barefoot with nail polish in yoga pants (tights) in the morning when moms are sending kids to the bus stop and I KNOW that no one noticed me going to my car.

Maybe you could go to your car in drab a few times and be very observant of who is out and about and see if anyone at all notices you then. It would probably be the same if you were dressed.

You don't say how exposed your situation is to try and get into your car without being seen.
I just go for it now ! I have done a stupid thing because I've rigged lights on my house and garage to one central PIR so the whole frontage lights up when stepping out the front door or driving up my drive !

I was ecstatic when we bought our house with a garage big enough for both cars. Now there's only room for one, the wife's. What I found is that from inside the garage you can't see if anyone is just happening by the front of the house. So, my prefered method of leaving is to park out in the driveway (it's the only place there's room for my car anyway!) and then just check carefully up and down the street before just going out and getting in the car. On the way back I just survey the street as I round the corner slowly.
So far, so good but, I'm always ready to say, "I'm a crossdresser! And, I like what you're doing with the flower bed next to your driveway. Have a nice day!"

To the OP. I feel for you. You've got a couple of choices. Be out and own it which may be the greatest sense of freedom you'll ever experience. Move to a house with the detached garage. Keep using the dashboard vanity. Half dress and wear a trench coat, shades and hat, putting the wig on later (nothing suspicious about That). Get one of those Harry Potter invisibility cloaks. Invent a star trek transporter.

Hmmm, I sometimes get totally dressed except for the shoes, then pull on a pair of track pants and a sweatshirt, hop in the car, drive to a safe area, apply makeup, hair and heels. Voila! I am then ready for the club!

My solution is pretty much what Jillian does. Underdress as much as possible, carry everything else with you, get in the car and drive to a safe spot to change. For me, that's a shopping center parking lot but not way in the back where I would attract attention. I change back before coming home.

Trying to sneak out to your car will arouse suspicion from anyone who happens to be looking and you never know who might happen to look out their window just as you are racing to the car. Coming home dressed is more risky because you don't know who will be outside. Driving by and not stopping is even more suspicious.

Admittedly, it's a real PITA to have to do this but if you want to keep your dressing away from your neighbors, it's about the only way short of having a safe building or friend's house or maybe an RV to change in.

I'm with Krisi on this. have the groundwork done, underdress as much as possible, and wear loose clothes over it. Then in a quuiet spot apply wig, makeup and shoes.
