Funny conversation with Doctor's receptionist

My wife has a pretty rare, but treatable condition that requires us to travel a few times a year for follow-up visits with a specialist. We have come to know the receptionist pretty well, and we often hear about the antics of her 11 year old son.
When we asked what he was up to lately, she told us he was getting his Halloween costume ready. He was going to be a zombie...princess! She told us that he was very proud to announce to the cashier at Wal Mart that the tights and shoes were his, and he already had his dress!
I wonder if Mom knows that odds are pretty good that her son's princess dress may get just a bit more use than just one night! She seemed pretty cool with the whole thing, so that was good.
I wish my mom would have helped me dress up as a zombie princess!

That's a great story. Smart parents allow their children reasonable latitude to express themselves. Chances are, the "phase" will go away with time, and if it doesn't it can be addressed in a healthy manner.

Great story. It's nice that his parents seem ok with it and allowing him to express himself. That's what the holiday is about. Recently in the news, I think there was a boy that wanted to be one of the characters from the movie "Frozen." His dad is dressing up also as one of the other princesses. The picture went viral on the internet. Seems more of these stories keep coming up.

There are more cross dressing themes coming up frequently these days, I think it shows a more tolerant and liberal attitude.

As mentioned in a previous post if someone is allowed to express themselves in this way they may never want t do it again.

Always remember the "forbidden fruit'' syndrome, refusal does arouse interest.

If I had a dollar for every time I wished I could have grown up in today's society with open minded parents....
