At "my" VA hospital the M to F trans-gendered patients are assigned to the woman's "Pink" clinic. This is much better than before when we were in the main hospital with the male veterans. I suffered for several years with that setup because of old habits. There I would be in the waiting room all dolled up and passing nicely when a nurse would come out and announce my male name with Mr. in front of it. Then the guys would stair at me when I stood up to go in with the nurse. It was humiliating. Each time I would request to be called by my fem name in the future but they never did. Now we are all women at the Pink clinic and I am always called by my fem name. They finally get it. Leanne

I was always worried about that same thing when I separated and started going to the VA. I'm glad it has gotten much better for you!

Every VA facility should operate in that manner. I've taken that humiliating walk several times.

I am always called by my fem name.

I never get called by my "fem name". People always use my real name - even though some persistently misspell it.
