I get that if I do not use a new razor blade (or at least a REAL sharp one), if the blade is dull it pulls the hair out rather than cutting it, the result being a inflamed hair folical, resulting in a red dot or bump.

Also mosturize once you have shaved.

Hope this helps.

hi there ,
i get this problem as well and can testify to how infuriating it is . i have been using this stuff , Skin Doctors In Grow Go (http://www.bbtuk.co.uk/product_info.php?products_id=41) for some time now and it does seem to help somewhat although i would warn you it's not the miracle cream it proclaims to be . could well be that it's no better then odinary clerasil but i haven't tried that on my legs so i can't say .

Use a very sharp blade, and rinse with COLD water when finished. This well constrict and close the pores, and help avoid the inflammation you're getting from the shaving. There is no one miracle here. When you shave again, the irritation gets less and less.

You'll note that Tend skin has similar ingrediants (acetylsalicylic acid, propylene glycol, glycerine, and isopropyl alcohol) to Ingrow Go.

And for those unaware, acetylsalicylic acid is uncoated aspirine, so you can make your own remedy of uncoated aspirine and alcohol (or water), which produces salicylic acid.

Salicytic acid is used to treat acne, warts, dandruff, psoriasis, and similar conditions.

In the treatment of acne, it slows the shedding of skin cells in hair follicles, so they do not clog the pores and cause pimples.

It also has a keratolytic effect, causing dead cells to slough off. The top layer of skin is removed, and pores unclogged.

In treatments for warts, a stronger solution is used. This not only softens the wart so it can be rubbed off, but the irritation stimulates the immune system to attack the human papillomavirus that causes warts.

The vinager smell is the rusult of the acetic acid separating from the salicylic acid. Salicylic acid combined with acetic acid produces acetylsalicylic acid (aspirine).

Remember, if you want to make your own salicylic acid, use uncoated aspirines.

A loofah (hard sponge?) is supposed to help, also, although I can't remember if you are supposed to use it before or after shaving. Removes the dead skin, though, that might be clogging follicles.

Google is our friend!

The English word you are looking for is pimples. A common slang word for them is zits. They are caused by dirt in the pores of your skin getting infected. The basic way to prevent them is to keep those pores clean with regular washing and scrubbing

Untreated, folliculitis can progress to a more serious and painful infection requiring oral antibiotic therapy.

You need to see your skin doctor for the wipe on antibotic cream.
I had to do that for my arms.

This is caused from shaving, not genitics.

Prior to starting laser I recall using a loofah before shaving with a Gillette Mach 3 and shower gel and using a cotton ball with isopropyl alcohol once after shaving then later that day and again the next day... it seemed to help on my legs but not up in the bikini area. That area is hard to get a loofah and alcohol didn't prevent much. Also I'm no doctor, so I don't really know if even the alcohol was the proper thing to do. My theory is it helped cut down on possible bacteria that causes the red spots. I've just tried many things after becoming frustrated with red spots and fearful of folliculitus, till I just jumped in and tried laser. I've had two laser treatments so far and I am impressed with the results, but that is my body's' response and not necessarily another's.
Once I had an ingrown hair that caused a bump that stayed for a long time, I didn't know what to do so I tried to remove it with a pumice stone, now I have a dark discoloration about a cubic centimeter on my calf, it's been there about 8 months what a bummer... another thing to get fixed if it means that much to me... and it does. Is this vanity? so what, I want nice legs.

First of all...thanks Bill...you're right it's pimples....

The thing is not how to treat the legs and rest of shaved area...
but how to remove those annoying pimples from some...areas?

FYI, Tend Skin has copious amounts of alcohol, which is really harsh on your skin. A 1% or 2% Beta Hydroxy Acid product (http://www.paulaschoice.com/learn/article.asp?PAGETYPE=ART&REFER=SKIN&ID=27), is a much better choice for exfoliating to prevent break-outs.

A salicylic acid solution is good for combatting immediate after-shaving irritation.

I have started using Benzoyl Peroxide in low concentrations with good results:)

It will help in sensitive and fleshy areas like the bikini/inner thigh/tummy if you shave with the direction of the hair as opposed to against it. It will not be as close but you'll get far less irritation. And unless you're wearing a micro mini skirt no one else will know!
