You're in male mode and all you can think of is being fabulous. And then, you get to the moment and it's like, "What a pain in the ass. All this work!"
But, you do it anyway. And, OOOOHH! This just feels so good!

I think it's the girl emerging after being cooped up so long - kind of how I imagine it would feel for a prisoner being set free after a stay in confinement - at least that is my take on it.........................................Debra

Exactly! When I can't dress, I constantly think about it. And when I get the opportunity, it's often when I'm not in the mood to go through all the effort, but I do because my opportunities are so far between. And then when I'm all dolled up, it is SO AWESOME ;)

I feel the same way Carla, all this work for what, and then I put the wig on as a last step and
suddenly there she is. Oh yeah, that's why I do it !!! :)
It remembers me a day when in the evening, a friend of mine call me to go to the cinema !!!, i spend so many time, in dressing, make up and so... I didn't want to wear man clothes back
So i said....come to my home... I have already told him about my "hobby"...but he never saw her before...and then he did...
It was maybe one of my best moment of CD... !!

So true Carla ! Fridays are good days for me to dress. My SO is off to work and my kid is off to school. I always have Fridays off of work so I have the whole day laying out in front of me with no chance of being interrupted. But I sleep in a little and wake up to the quiet house. All I want to do is stay in bed a little longer, get up and NOT shave, lounge on the couch drinking coffee and reading the paper. It would be so easy. But somehow I force myself to get up and jump in the shower. Shave as much hair as I can get away with. Tuck and Tape and put on some nylons. Then apply some make-up. At each step along the way I am feeling more and more feminine. Then I put on a new dress and some new lingerie I had recently purchased. And finally the wig and lipstick and I realize that all the effort was worth it. I spent the rest of the day dressed in Fem and enjoying my day off. Then got all cleaned up and everything back in its place by the time everyone returned home. Felt relaxed and happy the rest of the day. Yes it is alot of work to get into Fem mode but once there the feeling is so good !

Carla, I know how you feel. It seems to take me forever to get ready and I agonize over every little thing (I have been late so many times to functions because of this - lol)
But... that moment I step outside the door is incredible. I know in that moment that I really do make a better woman than a man. And all the prep becomes worth it.

If anyone can answer that question, they should win some kind of award. Sure does feel good, though, doesn't it?
Why does this feel so good ?
Because it's one of few moments in my life where i think really at me, what i feel inside becomes true, little by little, feel and make her real.

Hi Carla,
I recognise this. Waiting a long time to get a real opportunity to dress and then feeling, initially, as if it's a chore to get ready and put everything on.
But it's always worth it. Never wasted effort. That feeling of specialness and relaxation and elegance. Sometimes if time is limited, I will do a cut down version. And it's still worth it.
It's easy to see why (some) women make the effort - the reward is so great.
Love, Michelle

It's simply "the intoxication of feeling NORMAL".

It may be something to with being a guy. We are kind of stuck in that role. Being a cd gives us a chance to be something different, at least for a little while.

Because I want the world to see who I am, and when the challenge is met and I overcome, yeah me!!and the endorphins start to flow I'm all good. Why ask why?
Same as with bourbon. After the third glass you feel like "Whoa! Ain't I the best dancer in the whole wide world?" even though the bouncers are probably thinking "Get that guy (or girl, depending on how we're dressed) the hell outta here".
I think of it as similar to that wonderful feeling when you stop hitting yourself in the head with a hammer. It just feels so right! ;)
Honestly, there's something we need that gets fulfilled when we crossdress. If we don't, then the lack of it builds up and expresses itself in various unpleasant ways until we break down and do this thing we need. Maybe it's like taking Vitamin Pink -- we need this to enable some important process in our body. When we take it, we're fine. When we don't we break out in angst. Take your vitamins....

It's definitely a high, but it is also very calming for me. I can relieve my stress by becoming this woman for a short period of time. Even if I can't get any makeup on, the feeling of the silky hose, tight shapewear, high heels and sexy dress are just too good!

Why does this feel so good?
Do you really need to ask why? Do you really need to KNOW why? Would it matter in the long run if you knew why? Would it make your life any better?
This Thing of Ours of Varying Kinds is what it is.

I think of dressing drab as crossdressing. So when I "crossdress" in conventional thought, I am actually aligned correctly. This feeling is akin to being in harmony with yourself and the world around you. Understanding how society can see this as wrong is the hard part.

For me I think one of the reason is I can feel the fabric with my fingers and on my skin, I truly say so because I had purchase a Bali panty style 2325 and one day I mistakenly dried it in a dryer, big mistake , it shrink the elastic in the waist band, I reorder it , by then Bali changed the fabric, it wasn't something I'd wear again.

because it is a different way of life, a life that I enjoy and feel more comfortable with, also the cloths are so more easier to wear especially a bra which fits like a second skin and you don't know you have one on.
Why does this feel so good? because it is a special thing that only us can appreciate its true worth and value together with our inner wellbeing.

And no prescription or co-pay needed :) Unless you figure out the cost of all your lovely clothes and accessories. Still..... cheap at twice the price to feel that you're finally properly dressed and letting the world see you as you really are, sexy and lovely.

I have written about this quite a bit on my blog:
http://billieannejeansblog.apps-1and1.com/
It is:
An escape from the restrictions on men
A chance to be less aggressive
A chance to be softer
An opportunity to be a bit goofy like the girls at a bachelorette party
An opportunity to wear something other than black, gray, navy, brown, and in the summer tan.
An opportunity to explore a world and the sensations of a different world
The challenge of doing it well
The process of doing it well
The fun of assembling the look
It IS so much fun!

Because it "completes" ME psychologically and physiologically. It satisfies the needs of my feminine side and makes me feel "whole", even if only for a short time. It helps keep me mild-mannered, even-tempered, sane and happy. Since I can't fully dress very often, I still under-dress to maintain the link to at least some of that wonderful, plugged-in feeling (and great stress-relief to boot).
I don't go out and my wife is strictly DADT but that's ok and good enough for me!

I liken it to the endorphine rush of cutting. A good tuck, afterall, appear rather surgical. Is this getting too close to the bone? Joni

I think of it as similar to that wonderful feeling when you stop hitting yourself in the head with a hammer. It just feels so right! ;)
Or like when you're cutting your toes off one at a time with pruning shears and you pause and decide, "I think I'll keep the little ones for balance."
From that point on you feel good about making the right decision!
