View Full Version : Wow! What a day!

Hi Girls,

I posted this in my Yahoo group but I just had to tell ya how my
day went today. I also attached a picture of the suit I bought
today. It made me feel so good inside! It was such a beautiful
day today with the temperature heading to about 60 degrees (warm
for this time of year in Jersey).

I dressed early today in business casual, black slacks, white
short sleeve top, black 1" pumps, threw on my leather jacket and
headed out the door! My first stop today was Dress Barn. The
sales clerks are always so friendly and so helpful. As I
browsed around the store I came a cross a black skirt suit that
just had my name written all over it) I grabbed a size 12
off the rack and headed for the dressing room. After changing
into the suit I stepped out of the changing room door where two
of the sales girls were straightening a rack of clothing. As
soon as I stepped in front of the huge mirrors I heard a feminine
voice say, "Oh, that looks lovely on you!" And then another sales
girl added, "You see, when you are tall you can where those
clothes and they look so good on you." I was all smiles and said
thank you to both girls. I had pretty much made my mind up to buy
the suit while I was in the dressing room as it fit perfectly and
I thought it looked good on me. I feel so relaxed knowing that I
can browse around a store in complete comfort when everyone is so
friendly. After browsing around the store for a while longer I
went to the cash register and paid for my suit. I walked out to
my truck and put the suit inside and thought that this was a
lovely day to walk to the other stores.

Since I bought, the suit my next step, of course, had to be buy
shoes to wear with it. I walked along the sidewalk for several
hundred feet to the Payless store. As soon as I walked in a male
voice said to me, "May I help you ma'am?" I turned and gave him
a big smile and said, in as feminine voice as I could muster,
"I'm just looking thank you." Wow, it's times like this that
really make me feel so feminine. I found the perfect pair of
shoes to go with the suit, black pumps with a 2" heel and a
rounded toe. As I was paying for them (the same person who
greated me when I walked in was also on the register) he was
telling me all about the new styles that had just arrived and
that they would all be out on the shelves by tomorrow. He
was so friendly.

I left the shoe store and headed next door to the Avenue where
I bought a necklace and a bracelet. The girls working in there
were also unbelievably friendly.

I just can't believe how friendly people are towards the
transgendered. Our money is as green as everyone else's but
they are far more friendly than just trying to make a sale. In
each of the stores I was involved in idle chit chat with all of
the sales clerks. It was like they REALLY didn't care that I
was a man dressed as a woman! They all treated me like a woman!

I left the Avenue and headed around the corner to the Shop Rite
super market. The doors were right there at the registers and
not one single person looked at me like I was anything else but
a woman coming to do her grocery shopping. I walked to the
other end of the store and picked up two pair of pantyhose and
then stopped by the cosmetic section where I picked up
foundation and clear mascara for my brows. I walked over to
the self service register and checked my stuff out, put the money
in the machine, got my bag and receipt and walked on out the door.

After being out for almost three hours I decided to head on home.
This had been unquestionably the best day I have ever had shopping.
I simply can't wait to go out again (and again, and again, and
again).

Hugs,
Becky

Great to see everything was perfect on your shopping day out.

The skirt suit looks really nice on you.

I'm jealous of girls like you. When I buy a skirt suit, I have to buy co-ordinates because my top half is 2 sizes bigger than my bottom half! I can't buy a size 12 set, because inevitably one piece won't fit!

Still, I'm mostly successful with the matching co-ordinates.

That outfit is YOU. You look great in it and the shoes look nice too. Glad to hear you love Dress Barn. I have good experiences there, too, both drab and dressed. P.S. Did you have the shorter hair when out shopping? It does look nice on you.

Becky: That is a great story and so few of us are brave enough to do it. You look lovely in your new skirt suit. I too live in NJ and have shopped in Cherry Hill Mall. I am an older CD and a few years ago in the mall I was buying panties while in male drag and the sales lady all but insisted that I try them on so as to be sure that they fit. I declined the offer. Your shopping trip sounds wonderful, and you look terrific in the new suit, and the shoes, and the accessories! I love Dress Barn where I have shopped en femme several times. The sales people have always been courteous and helpful; on one of my trips a saleslady named "Willow" gave me some great suggestions about choosing clothes that would be flattering on me. I'm much larger than a size 12 (usually wearing a 20 or 22) and I have fairly narrow hips and broad shoulders, so I usually use hip padding to help balance my proportions. But finding clothes to fit has been fun when I have had the courage to go to Dress Barn or Lane Bryant or even Macy's and Penney's.

Your description of your day has given me a lift. Thank you so much!

Hi Becky:

Love that suit and it looks so good on you. If I saw you on the street, i would take you for none other than a GG out shopping after a day in the office.
While we do not have Dress Barn stores in Canada, I had a very similar experience when on vacation last Nov. in Virginia.
I was femme but wearing slacks as well. Went into a Dress Barn, saw a suit i liked in the same colour i was looking at in another store which was not my size.
Asked the sales girl if i could try it on, and she said certainly. Only had the one suit to try and she then told me i could take more in at the same time.
A few minuets later she came to the door and asked how i was doing. She told me that there were 3 way mirrors that i could see how it looked even though i had made up my mind already. She did comment that it looked good and the skirt hung very well.
Asked about tops, and she said to come out into the store ( I had the suit on ) to see what we could match up. It felt so good to be treated like a lady, and if she did realize that I was TG, she sure did not show it.
I am lucky as well that I am able to wear the same size jacket as well as the skirt, so that makes shopping much easier

For shoes I need a narrow one, and have had my best luck with Nauralizer.

I makes one feel so great when treated like a lady, but then again, a lot of the sales girls are paid on commission, so the more they sell, the better for them. I will definately go back to that store next time in the area.

Hi Becky,

Great post!

I just can't believe how friendly people are towards the transgendered.......It was like they REALLY didn't care that I was a man dressed as a woman! They all treated me like a woman!
How about that perhaps their attitude could be a reflection on just how good you look or how feminine you behave. Going solely on your pictures, you sure look totally passable to me....way to close to call. Anyway, whatever the reason those sales women sound fantastic :)

It must be so great to be totally accepted as a woman. I do ok when I go out en femme in daylight but I don't speak.....I just smile a lot.

You're an insparation to me

I have been doing some different things, one being that I am fluent in sign language which works well. The other being an Irish accent which hasn't been a problem so far. Then again I've only been out a couple of times.
