When I was a lot younger I thought I was the only one crossdressing (not that I knew that's what its called) but it did not matter to me.
I saw no wrong in it, but I knew even at a young age it defied the normal so my dressing was always kept secret.

Same here Tracy, I really didn't know a whole lot about it until my teenage years. I did know that I wanted to be female. Grand parents raised me since I was 4 so was brought up quite differently.
Take care

It is easy to feel alone with your secret - life is better with forums like this and even better once I shared with my family and was accepted

I thought that too until my girlfriends gave me a coming out party.
It was even worse as I was still the only one in a large group of friends that admitted to dressing.
I was successful at it and enjoyed their attention.
I did have a few men in the group ask me what it felt like to impersonate a woman, maybe they were the silent majority I did not recognise.
