Started counseling this week with therapist.
She invited me to attend a group meeting this morning.
All went well.
I was very nervous and partially dressed.
I didn't wear my wig or forms.
Just nice blouse with jeans and styled my natural hair with gel.
It was very nice to meet other like me and learned so much from other TG's
The group has different stage TG's.
Never knew this existed in my area.
Had a great time and finally sigh of relief
Leaving the meeting.

That's great, hope you get some positive out of it, and it must have taken a lot of courage to go there.

Hi Maria
I didn't get there early. I guess nerves were getting the best of me.
I wasn't sure how the meetings worked and introducing myself with my femme name was nice.
Once we all got into conversation about the topic, I became more comfortable.
It's only once a month meeting.
Discussion of HRT, Primary Care Facilties close by and our lives in general was a sigh of relief. Information that I didn't know was available.
Some have been and starting on HRT.
I have my letter to begin and Doctor appointment set up.
I'm so thankful for finding this group and the help available.
Wonderful day, so exhilarating.

I just want to say thank you to all here.
Seems like just when "WE" are getting our lives together, others decide they can't handle our true selves and walk out.
It's nice to know there is family here and close by with the TG community.
Thankfully I'm not totally alone, although some can make you feel this way.

Donna,
It's good to meet a group and openly talk about the problems we face and how others have dealt with it, your therapist has moved you on and now you've met new friends in your area , we do have to get out the door and make the effort, being closeted behind closed doors becomes harder to live with.

Congrats to you Donna. I know it took alot of courage to do it but you will get so much more insight now. Yes its alot of fun meeting new people who share the same things. Best wishes for you

Donna,

Well done, it's a huge barrier to step over.

I'm a big fan of attending groups. True, I've only ever been 3 times due to my circumstances but each time I've gained soo much. Being with people who understand you, don't judge you is just wonderful. People you can seek advice from, it's like having multiple therapists, the sort that know what they're talking about. Those who've, "Been there, done it, got the blouse"

I did the same at my first TG group meeting.
We talk about lots of things and have therapists and other Drs speak from time to time so its very informative.
Made some really great friends there too so I hope you do the same and that you find answers to all your questions.
