In the past, I would dress to match my internal gender, but these days it no longer seems to matter nearly as much. If I'm feeling feminine, I'm comfortable in mens clothes. If I'm feeling masculine, women's clothes don't bother me all that much. They're just clothes. I'm still me on the inside.
I mean, its still important to me that people perceive me as the gender I feel I am, and clothes can give people a hint as to what that is, but my gender identity slider no longer seems to be locked to my gender presentation slider.

As someone who identifies as dual gender, I can say the same. dressing doesn't create a feeling of feminine for me. I may have a greater desire to dress if I am feeling more on the fem side, but it never feels wrong, I also carry femininity with me to some extent. While dressed in mens clothing at work or wherever, it doesn't do much to change how I feel inside one way or the other.

I think the words that have been posted here just about says it for most of us. Clothes do make a difference but the way you feel inside defines who you are.

I think that the clothes I wear make a great deal of difference as to how I feel. I can always sense the feminine side of me but in male attire it is suppressed. I am not comfortable in male attire at all. It doesn’t quite right to me, like I don’t really belong in this attire. En femme I really feel different. The real me comes out. I feel more at ease and even normal. Looking down at the clothes I am wearing or seeing a reflection in a window or mirror shows me in a feminine setting. I don’t have to imagine the feminine side of me I can see it, as well as feel it.
I’m beginning to see that that there are really differences in degree when it comes to cross dressing. Some people on this forum seem to be quite comfortable in either male or female attire. On the other extreme some are only truly comfortable in female attire. There is quite a difference in CD level between these 2 extremes. Then there are those in between who don a mixture of both male and female attire.
Whatever is most comfortable for an individual is best for that person, but we should all keep in mind that what is best for one person might not be best for someone else. It’s dangerous to transfer our feelings onto someone else. This is called mirror imaging. It means to feel that one’s personal feelings are universal and that others feel, or should feel the same way. What has dawned on me is that this list shows just how varied the whole CD concept is and how different the approaches to CD can be.

Thank u for the post, Saikotsu. I've often wondered why so many here r set on wearing female clothes. While claiming they get nothing from them except, "feeling more like myself".
I don't quite get that.
I find wearing female things to be exciting and stimulating. If that ever stops, I'm not likely to keep wearing them.

I don't know where I am, today I am wearing a skirt and top.
When I go to work, I wear a shirt and slacks.
Gender?
What's that?
