Hi girls...

I picked up a ticket tonight to see Bonnie Raitt here in Boston. She's been an incredibly important musical voice in my life and I'm thinking of going as Joanna.

Have any of you every gone to a concert by yourself? How was the evening? Reactions? Plus? Minus?

I've only been to one concert (with my wife), and it was a Cher concert. I wouldn't say I am a huge cher fan, but I do enjoy some of her songs. I really did enjoy the evening, we sat on the 2nd level sitting directly in front of the stage. In all, the experience was positive. The only thing I didn't like was my hearing, my ears were ringing well into the next day.

I wanted to go to Taylor Swift last year, but she played in another city 3 hours away. However, Carly Rae Jepsen is scheduled to play in May, and I am contemplating on going.

I have been to hundreds of concerts but never in girl mode.
My first concert was The Supremes 1964 1964 I saw The Beatles, 1968ish Jimi Hendrix
One of the best live shows was Kiss around 1976-77,Black Sabbath I saw on their first US tour and that was awesome too.

Same as Tracii, never been in girl mode, but did rock gigs in my teens, Led Zep, Purple, Hawkwind etc. etc.

I can imagine that they would have been great places to go dressed as I look back :daydreaming:. A great crowd that seemed to empathise with each other with a sense of camaraderie, lacking in many spheres of life.

I'm thinking of going femme to a local theatre, as I had a good experience there a few years back...en boy of course. I saw Nigel Havers in Rebecca (quit using my name without payment of royalties) and the crowd were a mixed bag of types and I'm hoping accepting too. However, as in anything, it's pot luck on the night.

I have been to a lot of concerts and the first one was Woodstock in 69 and many up until now. But never in girl mode. I think it would be nice to do.

Being in the industry so to speak I get in to a lot of shows even if the tickets have sold out.
Its nice to know promoters sometimes but not all the time LOL

Many concerts here, one in girl mode...Elton John two years ago at Caesars in Las Vegas. Not alone though, had two dear friends with me.

Never in girl mode but with bell bottoms with that extra wedge of cloth to make them even wider, my long hair and clogs some "love" beads and skinny boy body. Alone at first but with the right herb you make friends fast. The groups I seen are gone now and the individuals are rarely seen anymore. No more concerts for me of any kind just not on my agenda.

I went to a lot of punk concerts in the 1980's in a leather mini-skirt, fishnets and lipstick

No trouble - always felt accepted

My question is "Why not?" If you want to do it, go ahead and be yourself. You'll have a great time. I doubt that a Bonnie Raitt crowd will cause you any problem!

Do wear what a GG would wear to the concert, of course.

I have gone to many concerts as Eryn, but most of them have been classical or opera. California Symphony at Disney Hall, Pacific Opera Project, organ and piano concerts at the Nethercutt Collection, Metropolitan Opera remote broadcasts in movie theaters, etc. Never a problem.

Concerts are a great way to get some femme time out and about. I dress to blend in with the GGs. I have never had a problem in many concerts, theater performances, opera, etc. The crowd at these events is usually well-behaved anyway. It is unlikely anyone will make a fuss. BTW, I always go stag to these places.

It goes against our intuition that venues with big crowds would be fairly safe, but it is quite true. They are usually safer than being alone en femme. It is one of the ironies of crossdressing. Another safe place: an airport.

I have been to several symphony or city band concerts in a bandshell at a park, dressed as Alice. A few looks, but no problems. Always alone, too.

I really want to try this.
One of my T sisters invited me to a Kelly Richey show coming up so I think I will go in girl mode.

I have only done a few as Beverley, always seemed safe as everyone is focused on the performers.

All other shows I have done in drab are in lighting, sound or bumping in and out.

Too many people I might bump into if I were dressed.

Going out dressed as a woman to concert sounds like a great idea to get out of the house. With a large crowd, it would be easy to just blend in. I will have to watch for a local concert to test the waters dressed feminine. Jocee, thank you for the great idea!

Have a great day!

Are you kidding? Bonnie Raitt? You have to go! She's not only a great performer, but she attracts what has to be a supportive crowd. :)

Well, it's too late to offer any suggestions, but I want to know what you did? How was the show?

I have been to a few concerts now as a girl. The last was back in December by myself (first solo as a girl). I am going to another with some friends on my birthday in 2 weeks with some friends as a girl of course :). No bad experiences. Go for it girl!

Never as a girl. Nail polish and eye shadow, yes, but I was not alone.

It'd depend on the concert. Bonnie Rait... Great concert, but I don't know if it'd be well advised unless you pass really well. I personally wouldn't.

I saw pics on one of us that a friend of mine met at a Cher concert a couple of years ago. I'd go to that one. When I saw her pics I wished I had. She looked like Cher, so she was well received at the concert by everybody.

I'm going to my first en femme concert in a little over a week to see Belinda Carlisle. I figured an ex-Go Go was the way to go for my first such experience.

I went last fall with my wife to a talent/variety show that was at an area casino. I had previously gone to a Vegas show as Miranda, but never to something so public so close to home. I used the event as an excuse to dress to the nines(by far the dressiest I've ever gone out) We had front row seats, and as a whole the evening was great. No negative reactions or comments(that I heard). The evening had two nerve wracking parts for me. The first was when we got to the casino entrance and I had to show my ID, and the second was when my wife was chosen to go onstage and they asked her who she was there with and she said her husband...fortunately, they didn't pan into the audience with the camera to find me.

I would say go for it. A concert is a step up from a movie theater...people are mainly going to watch the show, not who's at the show, there just might be a little more light than at a theater. Large crowds make it easier to hide in plain site.

And one waiting outside, whose travel plans could not get her there in time for the show :)

Yep Erica, but dinner was still fab. :)

This year Rod Stewart has moved in for some shows. I wish you were able to go. Next year we'll have the entire gang there, I'm sure. I'm already looking forward to it.

We've gone to plays and concerts (one of them classical) with my SO dressed and there were no issues. As with all other places, some people noticed my SO is not a GG but they kept their opinions to themselves.

All about transvisibility ! At intermission,or after the opener, the line forms at the ladies room..Like being on stage, plenty of eyes and never a problem. And this is Jacksonville ,Fl with an eclectic older crowd. Been to many concerts and events here and never give it much thought as this is me every day. Transvisibility is a good thing...

Hi Jocee,

I went to a Def Leppard concert at The Forum in Los Angeles by myself and
dressed as Melanie. Had a great time, and would definitely recommend it to you.
Was cool to be among that many people dressed. The staff were great. Takes
a little guts to do, but worth it. Only time I was worried was exiting and going
out into a dark parking lot with that many people.

Funny, I was thinking of see Bonnie Raitt in LA recently, I like her as well. Have fun!

Been to many never in girl mode myself I was still in complete hiding back then. Locobazooka in its early days with my folks, Korn tons of times with a close cousin of mine almost 20 years ago and Kiss last time they came though mass with my folks. Yea im into heavy/alternative metal kinda happens when that all your folks play growing up altho I did develop my own preferences nowadays I love a lot of instrumentals with the piano and acoustic guitars but I can still be found listing to metallica, kiss, korn, ozzy ect.

Last summer I went to an outdoor concert by Wilco with another T-girl. We both dressed en femme and to blend in with a concert crowd with their comfortable clothes, blankets and picnic dinners. No one paid attention to either of us, only to the band.

Never dressed, but I've seen Pink Floyd, Elton John, Joe Jackson, Peter Gabriel, Billy Joel, The Ramones, Melissa Etheridge, Bette Midler, Chris de Burgh, and Spirit of the West, to name a few. Never managed to make it to The Who or Led Zeppelin, though :(

Never in girl mode. This thread, however, has caused me to remember many more than I realized I had gone to.
How about Bobby Vinton, The Cowsills, Linda Ronstadt, Crystal Gail, Jan and Dean, The Mamas and Papas,The Beach Boys, The Oakridge Boys, Garth Brooks, and George Strait.
Used to see and dance to Mark Chestnut, Tracy Bird and Clay Walker on a regular bases. They are from the area and used to perform in local clubs before making it big.
I have always fantasized about going to a country/ western dance hall in cowgirl mode and dancing with a handsome cowboy.

I went to see Acoustic Alchemy outdoors in Portland, OR, in the 1990s. A few looks, but no big deal. Probably a couple of thousand people. I agree that crowded venues can be a lot safer and blessed with the indifference of anonymity, so it's easier to relax and enjoy the show.
