I recently found that I had gained some unexpected pounds recently. Also in a check up with my doctor he noticed that some of my indicators had spiked. I was surprised and a little shocked.
Now I always regarded myself as fit and not fat. I exercise regularly and take part in very long bike rides and multi-day hikes through the high Sierra Nevada so this was a true shock. when I was checked by the surgeon before a minor operation for a hernia a year or so ago he told me that he would just make a normal incision as I was, to quote him "thin". I think that is just a relative term as he had just described an operation of a 400 pound plus woman.

So I was lulled into a false sense of security. However these more recent results were a wake up call for me. I decided that it was time to take care of this and get my weight back down to what it was nearly two decades ago. I started on a 5/2 diet in which you eat normally on five days and have a restricted diet on two days. I also cut back on carbohydrates and on sugar. I never ate fast food or fizzy drinks anyway. Finally, I cut out my daily glass of wine and now I only have that on Friday or Saturday.

Not only have the results come pretty quickly but to my great joy I now find that I easily fit some dresses and skirts that were getting too tight for me. Also I have a large collection of slips including some lovely ones that you just cannot find anymore. Well they were getting too tight also until this morning I found that they fitted very well.

This was such a bonus that I am finding it easy to get rid of the pounds and intend to keep it that way. I find my appetite is much smaller too. I think we just become used to eating far too much food and the portions served by many restaurants are very large and unhealthy.

So girls, my advice is go on a diet and have more fun dressing up in your favorite clothes.

I like that, but there is another way to have fun getting healthy. And that is to buy lots of cute sports bras, running shorts, capris, leggings, and other workout wear to wear when you are doing your cardio (if you have a treadmill) or your yoga or your pilates. These days I really, really look forward to exercising because of all the cute clothes I get to wear.

I found a whole new wardrobe I had lost by losing five to ten pounds.
From 12 to even an eight.

Good for you Consuelo good job. Fitting in what you love is what it all about.
Being on a new anti seziure med for about a month now and its taken a toll on my waistline, while I do eat a balanced diet around 2500 calories a day my weight has been going up and there is not much I can do about it other than be a chubby princess or something.LOL
I'll adjust my wardrobe as need be because I'm not giving up being me.
All those Keystone pics have been great and every one looks so fit its kind of depressing ha ha.
One good thing the wrinkles and crows feet are slowly fading away.

Consuelo stated, "So girls, my advice is go on a diet and have more fun dressing up in your favorite clothes. "
Absolutely true.
This topic has been coming up recently. You Tube has lots of good programs on food and dieting.
Especialy as you get older, you not only tend to gain weight easier, but the fat goes to the stomach area and clothes start to stop fitting well. Gaining weight is also not good for your health.
Getting the most out of crossdressing means wearing what you really like. You may have to make a choice about eating just as you please or dressing just as you please. I was faced with this choice and opted for dressing. It was hard for me to get rid of some weight and to keep it down. Every time I go out dressed however, I see the payoff.

Congrats, Consuelo! But, I must disagree with your advice.

As u found out, excersize is great for staying in shape. But, NOT for weight control!:thumbsdn:

And, diets don't work in the long run. It's much better to gradually change what and how u eat and drink. I did that when I got serious about Sherry's figure about 7 years ago. The 20 extra pounds gradually disappeared from my "spare tire", mostly. Since I've perminently changed my eating/drinking habits, it hasn't come back. Nor will it!:D

Yep, just as Sherry stated, it's about total general healthy lifestyle. Personally, I've eliminated sugar and sodium from my diet. I try to eat all natural unprocessed whole foods, hydrate properly and keep the body and mind exercised. The payoff is happy longevity into retirement. At least that's my plan.

Got to be careful with that; there's so much disinformation out there these days. Basics such as cutting out sweets is pretty simple, but unfortunately much of the world is still in the 'fat is bad, carbs are good' mode even though the cholesterol scare has been proven to be a myth. weight management is basic, too: Eat less calories than you burn.

Sodium isn't bad for you, unless you have high blood pressure, heart disease (congestive heart failure).http://time.com/3313332/salt-and-blood-pressure/ If you don't have high blood pressure, remember that only 25% of the population are susceptible to it from high sodium intake alone. If you're in the other 75%, you can eat as much sodium as you want, it won't hurt you. Remember , too, that most articles state correlations as if they were causations, which are things that are not proven to be fact yet. So, take everything 'with a grain of salt'! The CDC statement 'A vast majority of scientific research confirms that as sodium is reduced, so is blood pressure; forgets to mention that if you don't already have high blood pressure, then reducing salt does absolutely nothing!
