A female friend who knew about me back in the day sent me a picture and asked which one I was. I did have a couple outfits very similar. My favorite was a cream colored suit. I also had a black dress with a beaded cowl that I liked. My mother "borrowed" it while I was on a trip and I never got it back. I was young at the time and most girls wore blouses and skirts or Leave it to Beaver shirt waist style dresses. I worked for a department store chain and got to buy things going on sale the night before the public saw them. Several of the SAs knew what I liked and alerted me about items. Back then you always wore slips. When you sat down you slid your skirt up to keep it from binding which usually revealed the lace at the bottom of the slip.

I have been in the hunt for outfits like this for awhile. I refuse to buy the cheap halloween costume type.
And btw
My guess is that you are the second from the right.

The pillbox cap was the giveaway, though. When was this taken?

Do remember well and Jackie did changed the women's fashion world in those days.
A bit of a tune by Dylan that captures the spirit of the day. :battingeyelashes:

It is a picture she had found somewhere. I did resemble the second from the right a little. All my pictures were stollen years ago. Never store your pictures in a valuable box. Gone are pictures of our children, wedding, etc which really hurt. I did have pictures of me dressed from about 8 on. Had some with me in formals with my sisters. They got to go to the prom I had to change after the photos. Oh well it won't help grieving about it.

I admired Jackie for a number of reasons. But, I remember her best from the funeral.
Which helps explains my more accurate 2nd portayal pic.

Wow, growing up with 3 sisters and a mother of course, in the 60's these outfits look so familiar, my mother was an office worker so being dressed professionally was a must. Gloves, hats and clutch purses were a staple in any womans wardrobe and pearls of course. All that confining and shape ware, no wonder a small boys interest in female clothes, I think I knew how to put on stockings before I knew how to tie a tie.
I remember the Jackie look l was young. She worked it very nicely.

I have to agree with Allisa. The shape wear and lingerie back then and putting it on was half the fun of dressing.
The long line bra along with panty girdle and sliding the stockings up your legs was something to look forward to each time you dressed. Then to feel the full slip glide over all of it was amazing.
Yes, it was a great era to crossdress.

Diedre I still do . I love vintage skirt suits and I am adding to my collection of twenty or so.

Come to think of it, I did too Allisa.:)
I recall "The Jackie Look" as well Liz, rather fondly in fact. Thought she showed great poise, grace, and style whenever she appeared on TV.
