Than calling a popular local radio station and talk about your gender dysphoria?

So, one of London's top radio station was convering a story about kids as young as 4 being tought about gender identity issues at school and they where asking the listeners about their views.

So, I called in with my story to say how I wished I had that edcucation when I was growing up. though I think 4 is a bit too young. They talked to me for about 10 minutes on radio including a joint conversation with an expert and the presenter.

So, anyone who knows my voice and was listening at that time, knows about real me. (as the radio says your name and where you're calling from before they make you live!)

Katie7,
I'm glad you referred to new policy on gender education.
I'm really on the fence on this one, my CDing started with a sexual experience at the age of 9 , I didn't know what had happened through a lack of knowledge on sexual and gender issues, but I wonder how much it would have registered at that age anyway, certainly gender issues may have gone right over my head.
The report I read commented on some parents refusing to let their children attend the sessions, it also mentioned that younger children would be educated more on general acceptance issues rather than sexual or gender ones. It is a very delicate issue and requires careful thought to put the subject over to that age group, I know when I entered secondary school , I became very disturbed by finding out from biology books that girls develop before boys , to be the only one with pubic hair when showering in an all boys school and finding you have an audience when walking into the changing rooms is very upsetting when you don't know why !

It was brave of you to recount your own experiences over the radio, I hope it did help other people with TG thoughts and struggling with CDing issues, the media does have to get it's act together they have misrepresented the whole subject for far too long.

I heard that was to be discussed by NF on my way to work at 07.00 this morning, but didn't get to hear the chat. Did you record it?

Brighton based school doing the day I believe, as I saw it in an online newspaper. I'm all for opening minds, but four is a bit early IMHO. I can't remember much about being four years old, let alone having feelings about who or what I was. But each to his/her own. I was probably more interested in getting my go in the sand pit or the Wendy House, if the truth be told.

It was interesting to hear many parents with transgender kids calling in and sharing the same views as mine. Unfortunatly I didn't record it as I was on my way back from work. Though, I don't think I'd like to listen back to my own voice:)
I'm glad things are changing. Even if some parents object to the education, we're still better than a few years ago.
