Has anyone used crossdressing as a means to raise money for (a) charity? I have been trying to figure out a way to do so and I haven't come up with any ideas as yet.

The only thing i can think of, is having donated some lady clothes to a charity store.

Almost volunteered for SPCA and church shop, but apparently I "volunteered" to renovate (strip and re-build a section of the house whicch will take a few months)

I could probably generate a fair amount of cash by wearing a bikini and walking around the neighborhood with a sign and a bucket that says 'Donate a dollar to charity and I'll never do this again'. I'd probably be able to fill up the bucket with cash in about half a walk around the block.

You could try Walk A Mile In Her Shoes (http://www.walkamileinhershoes.org/), although it's more about social awareness than charity.

Here's the registration page: http://www.walkamileinhershoes.org/Organizing_Instructions/organize.html#.Vuz1nBIrLdQ

But have a look at the photos. Most guys just wear the heels without getting dressed.

If you work in a restaurant, you could get all the male servers to dress in skirts and heels for a day, to sympathize with what female servers have to put up with. This was recently done in Ottawa:
