I've just had a great day. I've posted before about wanting to get over my worry of being out and about as an en femme day walker. Sorry it's a touch long, but this is my big to do item completely ticked off the list. :heehee:
Today I had to pick up a pair of repaired glasses from The Whitgift Shopping Centre in Croydon, as designer frames come with designer bloody screws. Anyway, I also noticed Dorothy Perkins had a gorgeous skirt in the sale that I liked, but online shopping means getting two sizes and rejecting and returning one or both items.
Without further ado, I had a shower and prep, white puff sleeve blouse, black trousers and my fave Evans ankle boots. So with drop pearl earrings, nice dark blue military-fastening jacket and New Look handbag, off I drove to town. Thought I would do the opticians first to see how I felt. Big breath and as I turned the corner past the Deli shop on the first floor I could see a couple of people here and there check me out, but my confidence was already at 100%. So I slowed down, smiled at a couple of girls in the nail bar and collected my glasses.
First part of mission accomplished, off I went down the escalator to mix with the general populace and in to Dorothy Perkins concession in Debenhams, on the High Street. I asked a lovely young SA what the Trans policy was, off she trotted and returned with "it's totally OK". I like to ask and never assume and was escorted to the changing room. Got the smaller size of the two skirts I had selected, always nice that. I made a point of talking to the SA in the changing rooms and the cashier. Oh, and I went back and thanked the SA for her help earlier.
NOW, I'm really emboldened, off back to The Whitgift. Into two jewellers looking for silver or titanium studs with butterfly backs as my current ones are a nightmare thread and small balls (there's a joke in their somewhere). Then into Superdrug where I got some cotton buds, nail base-coat and lozenges for my sore throat. Then it was back to the car and off home.
I have now been the day walker I craved, pushed my envelop and bought a very sweet skirt too. I made absolutely sure to walk through the most densely populated areas to bust my demons completely. I'm now demon free. Of course, I have to mention the obligatory lack of pitch forks and flaming torches. I did catch one guy looking at me as I came down the escalator and he smiled back when I flicked a grin to him. Oh and not one word from several batches of teenage girls that either crossed my path or looked straight at me as I queued in Dorothy Perkins Changing Room queue.
Still on Cloud 9...wow! :)
