After my previous trips going to a little newsagents I decided yesterday that I'm ready for the next step! So I got all dressed up, jeans, top, scarf (still cold) and a long cardigan and my fav heels! Done my make up perfectly and stepped out to the car and felt a blast of cold air so clip clopped back into the house to borrow my wife's woolly hat with bling on it! I drove to a nearby town and parked up outside this store which does a bit of everything, general groceries, hardware you name it! I noticed outside it was a guy working behind the till, I've yet to communicate with a guy when dressed and always felt more comfortable around women. But decide I should go for it. Got out my car and walked into the store. Not realising it was a tiled floor my heels were echoing around the whole shop and creating a lot of attention, I honestly felt like fleeing back to my car but held firm and continued to buy what I needed. I could see one couple looking at me with a giggle but I don't think there was malice in it, I don't look that bad when en femme and weirdly felt shielded by my woolly hat 😂. Just as I was queuing at the checkout where there was about 10 people a lady came on to assist behind the tills and after doing a quick calculation in my head I realised there was a high probability of her serving me which she did with a smile and was so pleasant to me. I walked back to the car proud of myself but felt like I needed more! On the way back home I drove past a petrol station and noticed a middle aged woman working behind the till to I made a quick u turn and decided to fill my car up. The petrol station is right at the side of a busy country road and in full view of everyone. I filled up my tank and walked in to pay, another tiled floor, this lady was super friendly and made me feel comfortable. Sometimes when I hand over money or have to enter the pin to my bank card I shake but not this time, she made me feel at ease! I left and headed back home to remove my makeup before the wife got back. This day was so enjoyable and only ruined by the fact the new make up wipes I was trying caused my eyelids to flare up and now they feel burnt :(..... Can anyone recommend something for extra sensitive skin?

Peach,

So glad it was such an enjoyable experience. I can remember my first shopping experience and looking for ever more places I could go to. I didn't want that feeling to end.

As for the eye makeup problem I know a lot of folks recommend baby oil.

Good that you got out, if anyone gives you a strange look, just look them in the eye and smile, They may think your crazy, but will know it's in a nice way (not a bad / evil crazy).
I'm betting you will be shopping in the malls before the end of summer.

I don't wear much make up anymore so soap and warm water now works for me, but my 16 year old just uses water and the towel - leaves face prints on towels every night.

My fave for cleaning eyes is Micellar Water from Garnier. UK site I know but it's where I live :heehee: http://www.garnier.co.uk/skin-care/beauty/garnier/micellar?gclid=CNqIybOv2ssCFQso0wodHywOgQ&gclsrc=aw.ds&dclid=CP6K2bOv2ssCFUdVwgod9BQE2w

I use this with cotton pads. Squirt onto the pad, hold for a few seconds and wipe. Eye makeup comes off a treat, no rubbing and it doesn't irritate my eyes and leaves the skin feeling lubricated. I sound like I'm getting paid for this, but I swear by it. It's my find of the century...ish!

The web page shows their preferred method too. http://www.garnier.co.uk/skin-care/beauty/garnier/micellar/how-to-remove-makeup

Ahh yes going out the more we do it the better it becomes for me however in the small community near wenatchee wa. I drive to seattle to do my out and abouts the more I do it the better I feel and have experienced as others here either acceptance or wth was that look? I also have learne I am quite wealthy lol as I finally have gotten the courage to own the stores I go in :heehee: and no longer care what people think when shopping in the ladies dept ,when I go to places like soma no matter how dressed I always introduce myself as phylis never had an awkward moment yet ! sometimes it is amazing how the s/a's work to help you and even defend you! I was at a somas and got the evil eye from an older woman and the s/a picked right up on it and said at just the right volume "don't worry about it you inner self is just as important as hers really made my day and I emailed corporate to commend their employee
