View Full Version : Blending in

I was thinking about women who dress in business outfits (sorry, but I don't really know womens fashion) slacks and vest or that sort of thing. It occurred to me that if a man were to dress like that he might blend pretty easily, people thinking it was a woman dressed in clothes that were kind of manly.
Has anybody tried this or had similar thoughts.

I have been going out a while. At night I go out with a dress, or sexy top and skirt, covered with a black sweater and I blend. Suring the day, a more casual or work type dress, or longer skirt with a more conservative top works. I have tried the business attire and it does not work for me. I have trouble finding blazers that fit. The shoulders and sleeves just do not match my body. Button down blouses with collars end up looking like menswear. Experiment and give it a try.
With women's business outfits, the vests tend to have princess seams (a construction method the allows for the waist to be fitted while leaving ample room for the breasts,) which kind of gives it away. Men's vests have a taper from the shoulder to the waist that would either be too tight around the breasts or too sloppy around the waist on a woman. (Oddly enough, I've sewn a lot of vests for both sexes.) But if you're suggesting a woman's business suit is a good choice for crossdressers, then I agree -- looks great. But I'm guessing most crossdressers would choose to go with a pencil skirt instead of slacks.

The only place a crossdresser will blend in, would be into a group of crossdressers.

This seems to fall into the category of androgynous dressing, rather than real crossdressing. The line between female and male attire can be so blurred that it's hard to tell sometimes at first glance if the person sitting or standing next to you if a male or female. This is especially true of women who, when dressed informally in jeans and sneakers can look little different from a male. Only a good look at the face or hands can tell the difference.
As Jennie-CD noted, "But I'm guessing most crossdressers would choose to go with a pencil skirt instead of slacks."
Dressed as you noted would seem to have the effect you noted. However, why go half way when going the way is far more satisfying?

Yes, well I guess y'all are right. I haven't been out so I guess I'm thinking more about comfort zone. When I finally get the nerve I will probably go somewhere with a cd meetup group, hopefully to Hamburger Marys or somewhere like that.
FYI, I have talked my wife into seeing one of their shows with me in drab. It's a start.

When on my outing to Florida this year went to Ybor city / Tampa to check out the cigar making places there. For dinner my brother and I went to Hamburger Marys there. We stayed for the Drag show. Lots of bridle and birthday parties. Guess they have gone mainstream.

I have several lady's suits. Some pant suits, some dress suits and some skirt suits.
Due to the color (red, pink, baby blue, pink pin stripes) and styling (shorter jackets, odd-shaped lapels) none would be passable in boy mode. Not even close.

There are quite a few here that look very female and would have no problem blending in.
