I'm not sure if I'm posting in the right place but my question is: what a treatment with hormones achieve, side effects, can it be reverse if the results are not what are expected, dangerous side effects for a in his fifties years old married man?
I know there are many questions but I hope the moderators don't erase my post with the excuse that this is long treated in another thread.
Thanks,

The results and side effects can be found by a search on the Internet. If you are going to take hormones, it's best to be under a Doctor's care. :battingeyelashes::)

Thanks Kate,
I know that I can do a big research online, talk to a specialist but what I'm looking here is the real experiences on people that has done or is currently under hormones treatment...

Vanessa, there are other techniques other than hormones to gain breasts, but hair may be a bit softer but people go though electrolysis to get rid of hair. At any rate whether you are using natural or hormones it will change your body in ways you may not like unless you are going full female. But the natural ways can be reversed a bit and probably safer. But takes a lot longer. You can PM me for details on natural breast enlargement. But hair, well that is problem and it takes an effort to tame it.

I think the real dangers to a 50 year old married man that wants to play around with horomones to get a few female features would be your WIFE!!

HRT is not something to play around with just so you can have soft skin and boobs.

To the OP - I don't have experience in doing this, but as a side issue to your question..... I don't know if you are going to get many honest responses here from anyone who has done this. On this board there tends to be (from what I can see) an opinion that the only people who should take hormones are those who are seeking to fully transition to a female, with ideally SRS in their future. This is only one viewpoint on the matter, and a viewpoint that tends to be enforced by many here.

It is however, not the only viewpoint in the world. The other day I read a very interesting blog, (sorry but I currently forget the location of that post right now,) that was talking about a difference between a TS transition and a TG transition. On these boards the viewpoint that tends to get supported is that of a TS transition and not the TG transition. A TS transition is one of full transition into living as a female (if one begins as physically male.) A TG transition can be a transition into a partial gender change, including the use of hormones to somewhat feminize or masculinize (sp?) one's body, but not with the intention of living as the other gender or ever having SRS.

Now, I am not saying that hormones are something one should play around with as they are quite a serious option. I am only stating that it is possible for someone to want to take hormones for some of the benefits without wanting to fully transition. So to all of you who are questioning why the OP may want to do this, it is a viable option for some and to exclude it from the possibilities is quite closed minded.

So..... if anyone has experience with doing this sort of thing, I am interested in your results as well.

Here's a link to an interesting discussion of "typical results" for hormone treatment of MtF TG folks. I used it as a basis of discussion with my gender counselor who has a lot of field experience with TG folks. He agrees it's a reasonably accurate summation. You should also be aware that hormones can interact with lots of medications so if you're on anything else, you and your medical support team should be aware of that.

I myself am one of the folks Nadine mentions above -- I hadn't run into the term TG transition before, but it's a good description. Absolutely this should be done with a medical/psychological support team. Good luck.

In before the lock.

OP, PM sent.

Best advice, see a gender therapist, and speak to a physician who specializes in this. You're near L.A., so I'm sure there's a couple out there somewhere.

Hormones are powerful drugs that should be taken under the care or a doctor to avoid serious and potentially life threatening consequences... Side effects include sterility, higher risks for blood clots.. Etc. To view HRT as a.casual cosmetic enhancement option is probably a bad way to go / unless you're treating something (gender dysphoria?) seems like a pretty big risk. Is your wife aware of your thoughts on this? If you start, you'll likely become impotent and your testicles will shrink to a very small size, and that happens within a matter of weeks in some cases. Just some things to consider.

.

I tend to disagree with that. There are quite a few of us here who recognize the value of HRT in relation to dealing with GID, whether that person intends to transition or not. But more often when people raise this question here it comes across as more of a recreational pursuit, something to enhance their cross dressing experience. The OP did not clarify what his need for them is beyond wanting some feminizing effects to the body.

Somehow I think I see someone who doesn't want to play by the rules and have a doctor prescribe these. As a crossdresser, I have to say using hormones would not be the wisest move, especially because things change and there are dangers associated with it Hormones are not the magic elixir. You don't get changes just because you want them. They mess with things in your body (like clotting and heart and liver and...well almost everything)
I would like to get some more natural breast, less face and body hair, softer sking, may be some more fat in the hips... Using w/o medical supervision, unlikely on the face and body, highly unlikely on hips or shoulder changes.

There is only ONE answer here. Contact your doctor and have the medication prescribed by someone who KNOWS what they are doing. Internet, mail order or any other choice is dangerous.

Do a search on hormones here, you will find all sorts of past threads. Discussing non-prescribed, over the counter medications or "natural" is strictly prohibited here. Doasages are strictly prohibited (and may result is a time out). The only correct area to discuss the use of hormones on these boards are the transsexual areas.

And with that....I think we're done here
