Hi, I had a very wonderful adventure last weekend, and I wrote to one of my CD friends about it today. She suggested that I post it. My only regret is that I don't have any pictures, but I'll get some of the outfits when I have another chance to dress and go out. I might add that I don't go out often and that my SO does not know about my dressing en femme. However, on occasion, I get a chance. On this most recent occasion I did more than usual and, honestly, more than I had expected to do. So here it goes:

I had a wonderful time last weekend. In a way, it evolved. As I may have
told you, I initially went out wearing my usual underthings (longline bra,
panties, panty girdle, thigh tops) and jeans, a top, and a nice wool short
jacket. I had on make up and a wig and a little jewelry. I drove to a city
about an hour away, where I stopped at a Dress Barn. This was late Saturday
afternoon. At Dress Barn, I tried on and bought two outfits, some
pantihose, a necklace, and a pair of (for me) dangly earrings. I tried on
several other outfits with some help in selecting things from the saleslady
(who was very nice). I liked one of the dresses so much that I decided to
wear it out of the store, so after paying I asked if I could use the
changing room to put it on. I had brought a slip into the store thinking
that I might do this or just need it for trying things on. I put on the
dress, fixed my make up a little, and emerged with my purchases in arm. The
sales ladies smiled and asked if it had worked out all right. I said yes.
They smiled and said good. Then I walked out, feeling very good.
I got down the road about a half mile, remembered my new earrings, and
decided to stop in order to put them on. When I did, I noticed that one of
them was broken. Then I had to make a decision: do I go back and possibly
call attention to myself or try to repair the earring later and just forget
about it.
I decided that under any other circumstances I would go back; why not now.
So I went back. By that time, they were almost ready to close, so I hurried
in (a little hard even in my fairly low heels) and went to the sales desk.
They greeted me, asked about the problem. I told them. They sympathized
and then repaired the earring for me. They had to find a small pair of
pliers and fiddle around with the earring; at first I felt quite
self-conscious but soon I was very comfortable.
I thanked them and left. As I passed a mirror in the store, I glanced at
how I looked and thought that I would take myself out for a little more
shopping at a nearby mall. When I got back to my car, I called the mall
information number to find out if the mall was still open. It would be open
for a couple more hours, so I had plenty of time. I drove there, parked,
and walked in through an entrance of Macy's. I walked casually through
Macy's, looking at a few things, and then down through a fairly busy crowd
to Lane Bryant. I think that I got some "looks," but I try to remind myself
that a real woman my size would get "looks" and not to take it as ridicule
or anything else personal.
I arrived at Lane Bryant, looked at some of the clothes at the front and
then went toward the back where they have quite an array of bras and
panties. Of course, the had a sale on them--buy five, get two free. I love
panties, so of course I bought five. Then the sales lady told me that I was
$7 shy of having enough of a purchase to qualify for a coupon that I could
use in March. I figured that one way or another I could get back there in
March, even I had to go in drab. So, of course, I found some other panties
on a different sale and bought those (twenty-five dollars off on a purchase
of $50 or more--am I a super-shopper!).
I left with my purchases and retraced my steps back to the car. For the
rest of the weekend, I remained dressed, including staying at a Holiday Inn
room which I had reserved earlier in the previous week. It was wonderful.
I hated having to return to my male togs, but as I write this, I'm wearing a
smile and a pair of the panties I bought at Lane Bryant. So all is not
lost.

Glad to hear you had a great time and the real woman dollars are nice too. I have 3 of them. LB is my favorite store. The Figure magazine has a 25% off coupon for one item.

Linnea --
Wasn't it fun? Shopping is always nice, but when you can do it enfemme and be able to try the clothes on while dressed is especially fun. Thanks for sharing your story.

Thank you all for your replies. I was so excited. What a thrill to choose clothes off the racks, go into a changing room, try them on, step out to look at yourself in one of the store mirrors, get a suggestion from an associate, step back into the changing room, and try on another outfit. I was exhilarated and I can hardly wait to do it again!

I am happy for you. I finally tried a regular restaurant but haven't gone shopping yet en-femme. I will use your story as part of my inspiration when I do.
