As you all know I work at the USPS as a full-time regular carrier. Each full-time carrier is assigned a substitute carrier to fill in when they are off. They hired mine and I met her yesterday. Short hair on the sides and just a bit of length on the top, her name is Nikki. On the first day they just watch you work and ride the route with you to see if they think they will like it before being sent to postal school for a week.
At first glance I thought, lesbian, which is cool. A bit of a closer look she was dressed more like a man, hmmmm, I thought. I couldn't get my mail sorted fast enough as I wanted to talk to her in private and what better place then in the confines of my truck while delivering mail. After we left the office we started with small talk but that didn't last long when Nikki said she told her girlfriend that she had a really good feeling about this job before she even met me. She said she thought the PO would be acceptable to transitioning on the job and when she heard me speak she knew it would be. Then she told me about her plans to transition, that her girlfriend is on board with it and they are getting married. I had one of the worst days delivering mail I ever had. I can't tell you how many times I drove past a mailbox because I got lost in our conversation. It was the first time I got to talk to someone in person that really and truly understands how I feel. I can't wait for her school to be over so we can spend two more days together in my truck.
I told her about this site and all the help that I received from the ladies here that went through this before me. I also told her that it had a section for transmen as well but I just looked at it and it doesn't look very busy. I was hoping she could find some knowledge there like I did in this forum.
Everyone please keep your fingers crossed for me as I really would like to be all the help to her that I can.
