While I continue to lurk here and post positive and supportive comments about other people's topics; I have refused to provide any updates on my life for nearly a year...mostly because my life is about avoiding needless drama and attention these days.
In fact, I promised myself I would never take the time to create a new thread or give the masses any further updates on my life. I will make an exception to this - as I have very good reason to speak about my recent experiences.
While in the Bay Area from 7/18-8/6 (I think that's 19 nights) I had a great time and met some awesome friends from this forum. Why would I ever stay that long? I guess it's good to plan for the worst, hope for the best, and bet that you will probably get a little of both. I also believe it's best to do things properly and try your very best to do things with some level of style. Too bad I always fail on the damn style part. I guess I *did* fly the wife and I out first class and stayed in a place overlooking the bay with a pretty darn good view.
I enjoyed meeting: Sue and her lovely daughter, Jane Peterson, AllieSF, and actually got to know Suzanne F. quite well.
I'd post more about Sue, her daughter, and Jane P. but I wasn't myself the time in the hospital when we met and was also just a 'little' whacked out due to all the drugs. Oxy and Delodid are good painkillers - especially when combined....but they can make you not a very interesting person to talk too. Sorry Sue. We will need to meet again. Perhaps I will be more entertaining to interact with next time. ;)
Allie was a gem as well, and I bet our paths will cross in 6 months when I return to SFO for a check up. Hint: plan on it Allie!
I got to know Suzanne way better than I thought would happen (the fact that she can seem to stand me without wanting to kill me is a total flipping miracle - least wise that we actually *like* to hang out).
I guess I would go so far to say that my wife and I both think that Suzanne is probably the most wholesome, kind, sweet, not a bad bone in her body, and giving - individual we have ever met. (My wife notwithstanding - of course).
She is also the first trans person who I think really really understands what I am all about and what I am doing with my sideways transition. PaulaQ would be a very close second with this understanding.
Summary:
I came, I saw, I kicked ass and conquered, and it would seem that I did it with some style after all. The actual details leading up to, during, and after are all mostly irrelevant so I won't bother.
P.S. The double comment was tied to the fact that I actually had an emergency surgery to correct a bleeding hematoma eight days post-op. It surely counts doesn't it?
I also have the dubious distinction of being packed three times, once when I was fully awake (and felt everything) for a total of 12 days. Yeah, that was...fun..not.... A small concession to have the rest go so easy and get such a good experience and result.
Ladies,
Thanks for all the pointers over the years here. They have been...good reading.
Kris
