Howdy gals!
I have found something that i really want to get, but the sizing conventions are confusing me a bit. Maybe i've reached brain lock trying to figure it out...so i turn to this forum for help and advice.
This Merriwidow from JC Penny: Merriwidow (http://www4.jcpenney.com/jcp/Products.aspx?DeptID=597&CatID=21483&CatTyp=DEP&ItemTyp=G&GrpTyp=PRD&ItemID=0a7331e&ProdSeq=1&Cat=bra+sets&Dep=Women%27s&PCat=Bridal&PCatID=21478&RefPage=ProductList&Sale=&ProdCount=12&RecPtr=&ShowMenu=&TTYP=&ShopBy=0)
The Women's sizing Guidelines (http://www4.jcpenney.com/jcp/CustomerServiceMenu.asp?cus=sizing_guidelines)
Now, my measurements are approximetly:
"Bust" 36 (no breast forms or anything like that, so i guess i go for a B cup)
Waist 33
Hips 40
So according to the sizing guidelines...what size should i be ordering?!? I'm stumped. I've bought things from other stores in larges before that end up being waaay to big...other times buying mediums which will be too small. I would like to get it right for once so i turn to the professionals!
Any ideas?
Thanks and hugs,
Launa

First thing, is your bust actually a size 36?
May seem like a silly question, but here's the explanation:
To measure yourself for a bra, measure around your chest, underneath your breasts (or where your breastforms will sit, or whatever you have). Take that measurement, add five, and round up.
So, if your basic chest measurement is 30 or 31, you're a 36, and I'd pesonally recommend you go for the medium, as the chest measurement tends to be the most important with bustiers like this. However, if your basic chest measurement is 36, that makes you a 42, so you should go for a larger size.
Hope that helps a little - if their returns policy is good, you could always order two and send back the one that's wrong maybe?

Why do they add the 5? Why couldn't a 36 be a 36? Is it to trick us guys who want to wear a bra? No wonder Crispy was posting a warning about CD'rs passing out from too tight a bra! Dumb me... I just put on my wife's and it fit, never stopped to measure.
Crispy, you need to get out the "add 5" warning.
Lily, any "secrets" on sizing panties?

I'm not sure why they do it to be honest! Maybe it's so that your bust and hip measurements sound more similar? i.e. the classic 36-24-36 wouldn't sound so good if it was 30-24-36 would it?
Panties - get a size larger than your normal trouser size. Whilst your 'normal' size will have plenty enough material to fit you, knicker elastic always seems too tight, and your usual size will pinch in slightly, creating the illusion of saggy fat bits (especially under very fitted clothes), whereas the next size up will lie smoother against your skin, and make you look much more lovely!
Have you ever seen Absolutely Fabulous, the british comedy with Joanna Lumley and Jennifer Saunders as Patsy and Edina (the PR rep)? In that, the wardrobe people always bought Edina's clothes one size too small, to give her that terrible podgy, messy look. Jennifer Saunders is actually quite sleek in real life! So, same theory for us - don't worry about the label saying it's a size bigger, if it fits neater, you'll look better - goes for all clothes ;)

So hard to say. Why do you think women are always trying on clothes?
My best guess is the large, but you really need to just go and try it on. In the case of something like that, use your chest size, however, an "A" cup is a nominal 5" I think larger than your measurement just below the brest. Refer to a bra sizing chart too for reference.
Even number sized clothing lies. Marketing has become a factor that appeals to the vanity of women. Some makes, a size 12 may be right, but a size 8 in another. This marketing aspect gives a woman a false sense of vanity. Did I say that right?
Good luck.

I just guess and seem to get it right. Terrible and lazy of me but I have gotten better at measuring myself. I have worn way too many tight fitting things not to
