Just curious...
1) How did you find this website?
2) What made you want to join?

I guess I could find these exact questions asked somewhere else (multiple times, probably) but I am either too lazy to look or spending all my free time learning this whole make-up thing.
Either way, I was scouring the internet for anything crossdresser related. I joined a site that might be a little too fetish for my age and lifestyle. At the same time (and for at least a month) I was lurking here. The members seemed friendly and the topics compelling. I was pushed over the edge when I read a topic I felt I HAD to respond to. So, I signed up and immediately learned that I am probably the only person to write a novel for an introduction. I hope I remembered to respond to that topic...

I simply googled for a crossdressing forum.
From there I desired to meet new people and gain advice, so I joined.

I found it through bathroom graffiti while sitting on the toilet at work. I joined because I thought I was gonna get a gift certificate from Her Room. Although I realized I was duped (by the person who wrote the graffiti) I liked it so I stayed on.

Like others I was serching for anything to do with crossdressing and found this site, I lurked around for a while reading posts and realised that here were lots of people who had gone throegh hell before discovering that they wernt just weird or crazy. Some of the posts really got to me and I felt like I would be safe and among friends , so I just had to join. Its good to be among others who completely understand.

My wife found it actually, after I finally asked her if she could try to do me up like a lady, after years of just panties and bedroom lingere fun. It's a good place for sure, from my limited experience at least.

I found this site last December while on a quest to improve my makeup skills.
Other sites I came across in the past were a little to sexually explicit for me!

Tracy,
I was looking for genuine help and not sex lines or dating sites, it wasn't embellished with roses round the door, it was to the point and helpful without links to sites I didn't need the distraction of. When I first joined I was greeted by some very nice members who I like to say have remained friends and at that time I had no one to share my Cding problems with. I'm not sure how long I'll remain here but I'm happy to pass on things I've learned from the forum and my experiences now I'm out to the World, I feel I owe the members on the forum that as it was members here who gave me the support to do it .

This was me as well. I was desperate to find like minded/gendered folks and here I am. Very happy overall with the forum and the acceptance I've felt from the folks here. It can be daunting at times, so many of you are so much more open and free in your expression of femininity than I am. However, I hope to use that as inspiration rather than let it intimidate me.

I was / am still confused with my recent desire to wear woman's cloths so I was searching for answers, and found this site, so I read a few of the topics and decided this place might be able to help me get a grip on what I was feeling and with the exception of one person, everyone here has been very friendly and very helpful, and I look forward to building friendships with the members of this community

I was just searching for sites about cross dressing and found this one. I was impressed that the membership seemed mature and there was a genuine desire to help one another. I had found some other sites which were just sexually explicit and some chat rooms for cross dressers that just appeared to be silly. Like this site best but as Lorileah said, the toaster never came.

I don't remember how I came across this site, but I do remember waiting and waiting and lurking dying to join. But as a closet dresser it was hard to make that first move. As I was lurking I wanted so bad to join but just like other sites I didn't trust it. One night so badly wanting to join a discussion I took a chance and joined, and it was a life changing experience. This site really completed me, I consider everyone here a friend and always Illinois to help with life changing advice.

Google search for a site that WAS NOT a porn site, a hook up site, nor a "chat" room. I think it was pure luck that I clicked on the link to CD.COM.

Why join? To see how weird I really was (or was not). Just a few weeks after I joined, with the help of Amanda22, I came out to my wife so I suspect that I was really searching for tools to come out without realizing it.

I was looking for folks that were like me. I know there are no two people alike, but there are many here that have shared life experiences similar to mine or have emboldened me to venture out and explore the world.

Like many others I was searching for information on crossdressing.
Found a link to this site and lurked for a few weeks.
I liked the set up of this site, the information and most of all the people here.

Lorileah, I don't remember anything about a toaster, but I'm still waiting for my secret de-coder ring.

In my eternal quest to learn more about our interests, I've visited libraries, read many web site articles, etc. I was surfing around and found this web site. I was and continue to be very impressed with the format, courtesies, dialogues, etc. It's my belief that one has to have "been there, done that" to be able to exchange thoughts, ideas, problems, etc. I continue realize, I'm not alone.

1) How did you find this website? Years ago I ran across it while looking for other CDer's and enjoyed the post and pictures.
2) What made you want to join? I like good mature conversations with like minded people that actually know what they and I have gone through. Sharing here and there with honesty and not worrying about being different or guarded.

In most every sense of my quest here I have found someone who has experienced it, is going through it or has the same questions or anticipation for doing whatever it may be. It has been gratifying to read others thoughts and experiences too.

I will echo what many are saying in their posts. I was (still am) trying to figure myself out - what am I? What variety of crossdresser am I? Where do I fit in the transgender scale? Why do I do it? Am i alone? are there others like me and what are their feelings about being a crossdresser? Where are good and safe places to go? To shop? So, while searching the web for answers to these questions, I found this site, lurked for a while then established a pseudonym e-mail account and subsequently joined this site. It has been a good sharing experience ever since. I am not looking to "hook up" for sex just for intelligent conversation about the trait we all share in common.

My wife found this site when I came out to her. She was looking for why I would dress in women's clothes. I started lurking for a few months. I found most people here are very similar to me and my experience. I have found good insight and comfort.

I found this website with a web search and I joined to learn more about how to present as a female. I learned about breast forms, wigs and padding my hips, something I had not thought of before. I learned about buying shoes at Payless and how to jus "own it" when buying things for Krisi.

I learned that there were others like me and that it's generally OK to be a crossdresser as long as it doesn't take over your life.

After 2 years of tripping over sites that verged on the pornographic and others that seemed to primarily be for hooking up with sex workers, I finally stumbled on this one and joined immediately.

I was searching for psychological motivations for crossdressing, steering myself clear from anything remotely fetishistic or sexualised (which, incidentally, I was exposed to in spades as well). This looked like a refuge for me from the visibly distorted picture that the likes of us were painted with elsewhere on the Web (and in real time, perish the thought...). I wasn't out at the time, and I was very reluctant to seek local help. I've shared - or is the word offloaded? - this side of me here, at any rate, since I had nowhere else to when I first joined.

More importantly, the discourse here was much more mature and comprehensive that the admittedly narrower material I found off the Web - once again, literally revolving around if not outright breathing fetishism and unrealistic fantasy. Either that, or dating sites with a fetishistic undertone. I personally avoid dating sites for the most part, out of intuition.

I am still lost, but a great deal less than had I not joined and thought it as a meaningless phase.

I didn't have time to search the internet for my question until I retired. My question is why do I enjoy crossdressing so much. I ran into the dating and porn site but no real help. Then I found this site and a lot of people asking the same question. I was nice to know I was not alone.

Thanks

I prowl the web ceaselessly for crossdressing help, photos, forums, etc. Why? Because I have spent many, many hours getting dressed, putting on makeup and perfume and jewelry, and then sitting at home alone. And it's curious that, having met other crossdressers over time, dressing and going out with a few, I cannot say that I have made any lifelong CD friends...I ADORE dresses and high heels and makeup and being feminine. And while most of us here would say the same thing, finding true CD friends just does not seem easy...This is not a complaint or a whine and I am grateful for the contact with other CDs I have had through this forum and other avenues...

Like most I just "goggled" cross dressing. Of course, then one has to weed out a lot of porn sites. Frankly, giving out advice to a wife of "just google crossdressing" may not be the best way to encourage getting information. I'd recommend taking her to this site. Ah, I've digressed again.

Why join? Well, I found the section I was entitled to view as a 'lurker' to be informative and sane. Darn, how I hate what goes on at the end of all Internet news stories! I wanted to see what was in the other sections.

There are many persons posting on this site who really do not have a clue what life was without the Internet....years leading into decades of shame and misinformation. Frankly, we aging women are walking and talking history books.

It was summer 2012 and I had just decided that I needed to have a woman companion. But I also wanted to see if there were any good forums online about crossdressing, which I had long enjoyed doing in private. I kind of wanted to meet some CDs, but I guess I mainly wanted to find women (GGs) who like CDs. I found a few icky forums etc first, but then I found this one.

Still haven't found women who like CDs. I found one last year who said she was kind of a CD herself, but it turned out she didn't like me to crossdress at all and she thought I crossdressed because I wanted to be attractive to men. I managed to maintain a relationship with her anyway for 8 months, then luckily she decided to break up, I guess because she couldn't believe I wasn't attracted to men. That made me wary of admitting to any woman that I like to crossdress. My plan is to say I have a fetish, which is true, since fetish means a strong need or desire to do something.

I was looking for a non-fetish site with more information about people like me. I immediately felt that this forum was a safe place and joined. It didn't take long before I was posting pictures and encouraging others. Even though I haven't really dressed since the end of April (see my posts on that), I still feel a good connection with the people here. I'm glad I found this group!! :hugs:

I don't remember how I found this site.
However I liked it because it was clean, the discussions were informative and yet there could be some silliness at time to make you smile. Karen Hutton and Kimberly were always good for some laughs and some good tales. Kimberly's exploits in travelling gave me the courage to go out in public.
I forgot to mention my friend Kate who also helped show me that you should enjoy this gift that we have and just be yourself.
