View Full Version : Just used my femme voice

So lately I've been having issues with my home phone land-line (yes, some of those still exist, LOL).

Call up the phone company, and of course I get the pleasant-sounding "female robot" recording. And the only way I'm able to communicate with her is through their "voice response system" -- meaning the robot understands our conversation.

First question, I answer in my guy voice.

"I'm sorry, I didn't understand you. Could you please repeat that?"

Maybe I was mumbling too much? :strugglin

So, I decided to use my femme voice -- and, it worked!

Okay, might as well have some fun & continue with that for the rest of the call, then. :D

10 minutes later of answering all these questions, and I've got a tech coming out next week to fix the issue.

Anybody else ever do something like this, or am I just the only weird one?

(And no, that's not my 1st time, either. :o )

If you're in drab when the tech shows up next week, what will you say if he says, "I'm here to see the woman our voice response system was communicating with"? Maybe you should just be en femme for his visit.

I thought about doing that -- but I'm all set, thanks.

Never used a femme voice on the phone, but I did once baffle a cold-caller by answering in German!

Laura,
Sometimes I get so fed up with call centers occasionally instead of just putting the phone down on them I listen to see who they ask for, they try and work round me by asking for my wife so when they ask for Mrs...... I just say yes Mrs ....... speaking can I help you ? It's surprising how quickly the phone goes dead on you !!

Well, just to have a little fun, I decided to take you up on your challenge -- sort of, anyway. ;)

Dressed a bit butch today. Visible to the public? Women's bootcut jeans (tight in the butt & thighs), women's running shoes (the turquoise parts & bit of lime green give them away), and a guy t-shirt. Padded sports bra isn't really noticeable, even to me.

Phone guy comes. Checks the "exterior" phone stuff of my building first. No issues. Has to come inside my place. Grrr, better be quick. Nope! Was here for almost an hour. He was a very chatty type, which I didn't mind *that* much, I suppose. I quickly got used to what I was wearing.

He also had to check the phone jack in my bedroom. Yikes! Thank God I had put away most of my fem stuff earlier, anyway. But apparently I missed some stuff... Black leotard hanging on the doorknob, oops! Some colorful no-show socks on the floor, oops! A couple pairs of obviously fem running shoes next to their boxes, oops! And when I saw him look at those last ones, I noticed there was a sudden break in his sentence, before he got back on track, ha! He had to have known they were mine, as it's pretty obvious I live alone. Ah, well.

But the worst part? At one point I was able to check in the bathroom mirror -- about a 1/2" width of my bra strap was showing! :confused3:

Hurried up & fixed it, but sure enough, when I checked again after he left, it was still pretty visible. Oops, again.

Anyway, although he certainly could have, he didn't charge me for the visit. What a total sweetie! :battingeyelashes:  ;)

After reading this thread yesterday, my phone rang ant it was a "800" number. Clearly someone wanting to sell me something so I decided to answer in my feminine voice. Well, it was a recording as so many of these calls are so nobody heard me. I'll try again next time.

Thanks for the inspiration! It was fun. Just making those little CD memories.

And even though I've done waaay more in the past, this was the 1st time for even something as simple as this in several years. Definitely helps to build that confidence back up, bit by bit.

That sports bra strap showing, though. Too much!

Oh, and later that day my postal carrier hand-delivered a package to me while I was still wearing all that. It was only a brief encounter, but she didn't bat an eye.

And honestly, since I knew that would be arriving that day, it would have been silly for me to change because of that. They were just normal everyday clothes -- not like I was dressed to the nines, or anything, and would look completely obvious. I enjoy this kind of guy-mode "stealth-dressing." I need to stop being such a chicken & do this way more often. Getting there. :)

Guess he thought your a CD, No problem, he seems pretty nice. Any ways he wasn't the on who answered the phone. But now he knows...

It is fun to push it a bit with service people you don't really know.
One time my heating and air guy was working on my furnace and I had left my Chico's catalog in the kitchen table along with a few bottles of nail polish I had just bought.
As he was figuring my bill out he asked "I thought you lived alone but it looks like you have a lady friend living with you".
I said no and left it at that.
I had one Avon lady call and she asked to the lady of the house and I said speaking.
She seemed a bit taken back at first but I think she figured me out pretty quickly. We talked skin care and body lotion for a 1/2 hour at least.
