I just retired and most co workers chipped in and bought me a gift card.

If they only knew that some of their donation purchased a dress and nails.

We did all our errands yesterday and my wife handed me the nails when we got home and told me that since I did not have to go anywhere for the next week to put them on. I have been married long enough to know to follow the wife's instructions. Just for good measure after I glued the nails on I applied nail polish to both the toe and finger nails.

Today she advised me to go ahead and shave my body. I usually shave from October till mid January.

She also joked about making me the housewife as she is still working part time.

Retirement may not be so bad.

I can only imagine the comments at work if they only knew.

Congrats. As I near retirement I think about how various aspects of life could change. No one at work "knows" and I could be more out of the closet after such. Something to look forward to. My wife is not that accepting however.

Hi Lea, Congratulations on retiring and great use of that gift card too.

I also retired recently and am so much enjoying having the time to pursue many of the interests I never seemed to have time for while I was working and raising a family. I also love the fact that I have time now for my female interests and have much more opportunity to dress.

Having your wife/SO to support you and share these experiences as you head into retirement is perhaps the best situation any of us who are married or in a committed relationship could wish for. Remind her that she is considered one of the "enlightened" here and thank her for her support every chance you get.

Now as the house wife, you should be dressed accordingly.
A nice house dress will do just nicely, NO Pants.

Congrats and welcome to retirement Lea. Like other phases in life, it's what we make it. Lots to look forward to, and lots to enjoy.

You're off to a good start by listening to your wife and getting those nails on. Now get into that dress and keep going. :)

Lea,
Congratulations on your retirement. I have 12 months to go, but my wife ins't as accepting as your is. I am amazed at the number of retired gals here. it seems that this CD is much more prevalent from baby boomers that other generations. I would also be interested to know how my co-workers would react if they knew my secret. Sometimes I think it is kind of special to have a part of yourself that nobody else has any clue about.

Very cool Lea!
I wonder that after I joke with someone about how nice I would look dressed as a woman, or something pertaining to it.

I'm like, "Ha, if they only knew."

Enjoy your retirement. I do. When I do housework I make it a point to dress like June Cleaver.

Congratulations on making it to retirement. It's a big relief not having to deal with work issues and going to work every day. Don't forget reality though. You don't want to answer the door with polished fingernails.

Since your wife is working and you are retired, cleaning the house, doing the laundry and cooking are things you can do to share the load and be fair. You can be the "housewife" if you want to but you don't need to dress up in a dress, makeup and high heels to do it.
