Hi All...

Sorry I haven't up dated lately but chemo brain is like the dog in up that was talking to the old man and then a squirrel runs by and the dog in mid sentence says "squirrel!!!!!" That is how my brain has been lately.

So I went to my 5th round of chemo today and went as myself for the first time. Yeah I know it's Halloween but you have to start sometime. Got a lot of looks from those in the room, mostly older than me and I am 56. The nursing staff was quite receptive. I had the med assistant call me back and she was looking for my male side and looked a little confused to see me. Luckily my wife was with me and she recognized her. The dietitian came by me and wasn't sure if it was the guy she had been helping the past 4 chemo sessions and gave me a strange look like "I think I know this person but can't place them." I got to talk about being transgendered to the main nurse that started my chemo and kept a check on me. She got concerned that my IV infiltrated (the IV was leaking in the cells around and not going into the vain) and was checking around my port that lies just under my skin just above my left breast. Being a big person I do have an "a-b" cup breasts. but due to my size I try to make my body look right. So she was checking and we were moving my breast form around just to make sure things were right. Well she needed a second opinion and called another nurse over to look. Well she poked around the port and then actually was checking pressing on my breast form and then realized what she was doing and got all red. :D It didn't really bother me none because after having surgery and all the medical staff poking and prodding you get use to it. I finally got them to realize that my "man boobs" were different sizes and that the left one was bigger.

So all in all it was fun. I will try to do better keeping the updates coming.

While good that you went as yourself - might be an idea to remove the form to help them?
But you will have to look after it, one of mine got shared around the room and took a bit of finding - but that was on a halloween party boat.
Hope everything goes well
