Well I got the courage to go out tonight to a gay bars. Come to find out that they are not open yet. They are having a casino night and won't be open to the GP until nine. So I think I will try another bar and see how it gose.

Kudos for having the courage to go out. You've jumped over a big hurdle. Sorry things didn't work out, but "that's life". Keep us updated.

I lack the nerve to go dressed up, into a bar, too. Not the safest places to go, too. Alcohol, and horny lonely men- not safe. Maybe go to a mall, or safer place?

Supposedly that was a gay bar. So I would have thought okay I should be excepted there. Boy was I wrong. So I decided to go back to the frist bar and wait till 9. But on my way back and because I am not familiar with the area I almost died in a car crash went down the wrong way on a one way street. Lol I'm laughing now but it just about broke me and made me go home.

I did not for home I am now sitting in my car waiting for 9 to see if I can get into this bar.

Yep. Forget the bars. Especially for a first outing. Many men see a woman or look a like enter a bar and they think she's there to hook up. You might have been hit on, assuming that's not why you went there.

Ummm, can I ask how old you are? Could I suggest you go home and try again some other time. Perhaps with a better thought out plan.

I am 42. I was not expecting to have to go bar hopping tonight lol.
I think I am testing my waters. Getting my feet wet were I could be more excepted. I think at the mall there is more light and more people out. I don't think I am ready for that.

"more light and people out", can be intimidating. So can dim light and few people! If this is a first time out, do what I did. Find a safe residential area, or maybe a well lighted commercial shopping area, after the stores close. Just go for a long walk, and get used to being outside, before going to areas with lots of people. I used to walk down streets lined with store windows, which are like giant mirrors at night. You can check yourself out in the store windows and get comfortable with being out and dressed, before taking it a step further and going around people. Bars would be my last choice.

Well made it in they were very nice at this bar. And didn't even ask.

Got back to the entrance and the girl I takedown to was the there and she recognized me and welcomed me back. I had told them about the other bar and it did not surprise them. They have heard some other stories just like mine about the other bar.

This was a good bar very worth the wait to get in. They had an armed security guards. I felt very safe there.

Just got home and was a very fun night. One of the patrons said he liked my hair. Had another say he could not tell. That made my night. I will definitely be going back there at a later date.

Wyoming Girl,
Congratulations for hiking up your skirts and mustering the intestinal fortitude to do what you've always wanted to do.'
Love you for it.

Now... if you're in the real Wyoming, (and you know this), please be careful. It IS Matthew Shepherd territory. I know that was long ago and times have likely changed but they may not have changed THAT much. Be aware. If you have friends accompanying you, that's great. Keep your head on a swivel (as I used to say).

Most of all..... look great.

This was not really my first time out. I have been outside a few times with my ex-wife. And also when I lived in another large city for a few months. Thank you for your comments.

IleneD

Yes I am from the real state of Wyoming. Matthew Sheppard (even though he was gay) was not killed because of that. The media took that part of him and exploited it. I have a gg friend that knew him well. He was killed over a drug issue gone badly.

Thank you for your concern. I am not in Wyoming at this point. Though it is always good to keep your head on straight and looking out for those that would do us harm.
Love all of you very much. Glad to have you here with support.
Jessie

Ilene, Living in Laramie. I know too well about the conception of the LBGT community here or lack there of. I have heard that they do have some groups at UW. Not totally for sure they do. There was a trans young lady who came to get some work done on her car at wallys when I worked there. As told from a hater I worked with. I was hoping to show her some support, but never did and thankfully I don't work their anymore.
I however did attend a presentation at LCCC in Cheyenne about 11 years ago. put on by the Denver Tri-Ess group. IIRC a teacher their was one of the ladies who talked.
So Laramie maybe loosing up some. But you still have to watch what bars you go into. Thankfully I am past that stage in my life.

I am so happy you didn't give up and run home with your tail between your legs like so many here would do.
You have my respect for sticking to it.
