Hello everyone - this is just meant to be a light-hearted report on my evening out tonight. I decided to do some of today's travel in girl mode. My therapist and I talked a little bit about me getting used to being out in just regular situations (we had a fun time talking about my flying pretty adventure!) So that was my theme for today - just do low key typical stuff. Anyway, I wore my new sweater-dress from DB (I thought it would be comfy for travel and it was!). I finished the look with black tights from Hue and low-heel black boots.
The road trip was not much to report - a little boring but at least nice weather. I was on mission though once I got to Madison. I really wanted some nice casual flats. I had found a pair on Famous Footwear's site, so my first stop was to see if the local store had them. They did! The (younger) SA's were really nice. Once I tried the shoes on, I sought out the SA's to get their opinion to see if the shoes worked with my outfit - one of the looks I want to have is some casual skirts/dresses, tights, and flats for this fall/winter. They said "yeah totally!" So I bought them. During checkout the SA said "where did you get that dress! It's really cute!" I told her Dress Barn.
Next I went to an Indonesian restaurant that I wanted to check out near the capitol. The restaurant's name is Bandung. It was nice - I took my PC to do a little work during dinner, and everyone was friendly. It wasn't very busy at 6:30PM on a Tuesday. (Ate totally veg too which wasn't really a plan, I'm not veg, but it was good!). The restaurant is fairly close to Plan B if any of you have ever been there.
Afterwards I drove to the Marriott and checked in. They remembered me from when I was here last year! They were like "where have you been? We missed you." (Ha! Handing out glowing reviews when Marriott asks doesn't hurt either!). They also greeted me with a "miss" which is nice. I ditzed out a little bit once I got here - left my phone in my room, then once I went back and got it I took the elevator going up instead of going down, got to ride it with a bunch of folks up and down, mostly nice. Some gals that were leaving weren't all that outgoing but I did give them a friendly hi.
So now I'm hanging out in the hotel lounge with a glass of red wine and am halfway watching the election results role in, and I thought I would share my experiences with you. Just a nice second half of my day. If something could have gone better, it would have been my conversations. The one thing I really need to work on is my voice - I feel it holds me back from really engaging people in fun conversations.
