So, I will be leaving Sunday night to a town about 200 miles away to be there for some business early Monday morning. I thought what I great time to do a little cross country cruising around as Molly on my way back Monday afternoon. I started making plans about what to pack and get ready for the trip.
My situation is DADT and about a year ago I put all my femme stuff in a storage unit while doing some home remodeling. I've still got it there and go by and get my stuff when I know I have some time spend as Molly. (I do have a small stash at home :battingeyelashes: )
This past Tuesday I had to put my truck in the shop, carried away on a tow truck . It was only later I realized that I had not gotten my storage unit keys out of the truck and now it was unavailable until next week when the repairs are complete!
OH NO!!! What to do???
Well, I called the storage unit and paid them $25 to cut the lock off and purchase a new lock for my unit so I could get some items out for my trip.
As they were cutting the lock off with a grinder I had to face the reality that I will go to great lengths to have Molly time...
Can anybody relate?

Absolutely. I've recently landed myself a new job, one of the major factors in me taking it was how much time, and when, I would have off. Because my Diane time is so limited I have to work everything around it, I could never take employment that would clash with my dress days.

I haven't had the problem after 50 years. I don't see why you couldn't just go get the your keys. Your explanation accepted for this post. Yes, you need to keep the keys separated. In the future play it safe. It may take a week or so to get things in line.

Yeah I would have gone to the repair shop and got my storage unit keys.

I can't wait for the day when a locker like yours is auctioned off on "Storage Wars" and the lock is cut off in a similar manner, with everything in it then exposed to the world in all its glory.

The look on either Darrel or Jarrod's faces would be priceless. :D Barry and Brandi would probably be cool with it, though. :heehee:

I just saw an episode of Storage Wars that had a locker filled with bags and bags of women's clothes. What a great score! I don't think the winner felt that way but I sure did!!!

Yeah I would have gone to the repair shop and got my storage unit keys.

Going after the keys was what I wanted to do but it wasn't feasible at the time. I am in a small town about 50 miles from Houston. The truck has some electronics problems that the local shop has not been able to resolve and they recommended sending it to a specialty shop in Houston. The time and cost of going to where the truck is and getting access on the holiday weekend just wasn't doable and getting a new lock and cutting off the old was quicker, cheaper and easier. But yes! I need to have an extra key stashed away!

It seems to have turned out OK. Hope your truck gets better!!

Ever considered a combination lock?

If opportunities are scarce and having planned to take such valuable time dressed only to find it potentially destroyed, I can see many of us moving heaven and earth to get things back on track.

I've done many great lengths actions for Carla's sake in the past.
Currently, I have the opportunity to bid on a 5am to 1pm shift which means I'll be home by 2 in the afternoon.
Contemplating it even though it would relegate my Carla time to weekend mornings.
Hmmm?

It's simple. Have more than one set of keys. What would you have done if you lost your only copy? Cut all your locks and doors down? I've always had extra keys stashed somewhere. Never know when they'll be needed. And, looking back, there have been four times in my life where I have needed those copies.

I can relate in other ways, I NEARLY always have a plan "B".

Nearly been caught out no plan "B" on a couple of occasions.

It's too late now but it's best to just give the shop your truck key(s) and keep everything else. You don't want to give anyone the chance to copy your house keys, work keys, etc.
