Last night I was at a big new years eve party with ages ranging from 21 to early 40s. 75℅ of the woman there were in dresses and of that, half of them had on pantyhose, mostly a black of some sort and a few in nude. It was good to see pantyhose beeing worn. I saw a few dresses and lots of heels I would love to own, may need to buy another outfit for the closet. Happy new year lady's.

I'm very happy to see the return of panty hose as well as nylons. It makes it so much easier to find a good selection of colors and sizes.

I wonder if it was cold where you saw these women....? I'll go out on a limb and suggest that Maine in winter time is a tad cool. Women wear them to avoid freezing. Hose are an "as needed" item, not a mandatory one as they used to be

I never knew they disappeared. While I do not wear them in the summer months, I do wear them once the winter weather comes howling. And the pairs, with the runs? I will wear them under a long skirt with boots. Have to get as much mileage as you can, nothing worse than the one and done pair.

I think it's time they come back. Wish they were sold as no gender specific in the men's department and ladies. I love wearing them.

I never knew they actually left because I never stopped wearing them ;)

I don't wear pantyhose so they're coming back would not affect me. However, I really wish Silk Reflections gartered stockings had not been discontinued and I would love to see them 'come back'. I can't seem to find anything that comes close.

Hi Allison:hugs:, I have been doing my part to support the Pantyhose industry for many years,

They can have my Pantyhose when they cut them off of my Cold Dead Body...:daydreaming:...

In my part of the world I see enough GGs wearing tights (pantyhose) to justify me wearing them. Then again I'd wear them anyway, if they were 'in' or not would be entirely irrelevant.

I noticed the women on the weather channel are wearing hose again. I think it looks so much better than bare legs.

I know there are lots of pantyhose threads, but I actually thought about starting one a few days ago. Now I don't have to as I'll just chime in on yours. My wife and I have watched nearly all the Christmas movies on the Hallmark channel over the past month. Nearly every movie has beautiful ladies sporting dresses with hose. Most of the news channels like Fox, etc. have all the gals in dresses and hose. While out and about at Christmas parties, and even while doing a little Christmas shopping I even spied a few hose clad ladies. And of course, lots of sweater dresses, tights and boots, but that's different. I just tend to notice stuff like that ya know 😏 Maybe they are slipping back into fashion. Seems everything comes full circle if ya wait long enough. -Meg

I was not aware pantyhose or stockings/thigh highs were ever on the way out. Yes, in the summer when it is hot and humid I can understand ditching them. My granddaughter has absolutely no need for hosiery. Her skin is blemish free..totally free of defects and not ashen. On the other hand with advancing age that brings spider veins, varicose veins, bumps and lumps hosiery is a must. One of my Christmas treats was an order of Berkshire stockings and pantyhose.

I for one love pantyhose and have been trying to encourage people to wear them!

I'm not so sure that panty hose disappeared...but the makers of them are fewer than I remember. However I never have had too much problem getting them. In regards to a resurgence of GG''s wearing them, I hope more do. I think they, and sheer stockings in general do more for a feminine appearance than bare legs ,IMHO.

I wish I could share your optimism, Allison, but I think that when it comes to GG's and their disposition towards hosiery, there is a definite pecking order in place these days, and pantyhose still seem to constitute an "also-ran" (no pun intended - LOL!) within it .

The bare-legged look is by far the most widespread (popular?) among the ladies, with leggings and jeggings running a distant second. Tights seem to be marginally acceptable as well, as are dark-colored pantyhose - typically black or charcoal gray - and for the more daring...patterned ones are an option, too. Nude pantyhose seem to come in last in this hierarchy, and are mainly worn by more "mature" ladies who - unlike their younger counterparts - often grew up with this type of hosiery and got used to wearing it in their youth.

Stockings and garters? They seem to be relegated nowadays primarily to burlesque performers, porn actresses, fetish enthusiasts and - of course - those crossdressers among us who also enjoy incorporating them in their role-playing fantasies. As for everyday wear for GG's...hardly a blip on the radar screen anymore these days.

I hope they do make a comeback because they are hard to find around here sometimes :(

Just like with everything else, if the outfit calls for hose wear them, if it doesn't don't. Sundress in the summer, no hose. Sweater dress in the fall, tights. Office wear or LBD, black hose.

Some recent observations to fuel the discussion:

- Last september we were in three Scandanavian countries and hose sightings were frequent for all ages with black being most common.

- This fall where I work in a city, I am seeing many more women of all ages wearing skirts and hose. In one 10 minute period walking downtown, there were ar least a dozen sightings.

- Just before Christmas, my wife and I went to an Andrea Bocelli concert in Boston and hose wearers were too many to count. It was great eye candy and of course I wanted to dress like 80% of them.

Casual observations, but it should help the discussion.

I never knew they left because I see them pretty regularly plus all you ladies here are enamored with them and have a gazillion pair of them.
They are one of those items that I hate wearing but have to sometimes.

I love wearing pantyhose. Also stockings, thigh highs, tights and fashion stockings or pantyhose. I have tights in various colors and or patterns. I have pantyhose in various patterns as well. I even have a pair of thigh highs with black vertical stripes. Just remember one thing. Wash them by hand in the sink, especially anything with color. One time I wore a pair of burgundy / maroon tights. Afterwards put them in the bathroom sink with some Woolite. I forgot about them until the next morning. The water was red. The tights came out ok. Good thing I did not wash them in the washing machine.

I think most girls still see hose as special occasion attire. We need a few high profile celebrities to make them trendy again for everyday wear.

Yes, special occasion attire...and work attire, if it is part of the job expectations.

Duchess Kate Middleton is doing her part to answer your celebrity call with magnificent results. So are commentators like Kimberly Guilfoyle on Fox News. Others?

Pantyhose seem to be much more popular in Europe, and they make some truly *phenomenal* (and very expensive) pantyhose in Europe these days. They even make a variety of gartered stockings as well.

The Berkshire stockings are the closest thing to the Silk Reflections stockings that are still made today. Those vintage Silk Reflections stockings in the larger sizes can go for big money nowadays.

Blue Orchid, if they have to cut them off your cold dead body, does that mean Joyce Dewitt tv shows are no longer in demand? Huge bonus if you get the reference.

I did not see them leave! Women wear them to church if no where else. I see quite a few out and about with some form of hose on and in dresses/skirts and high heels. Not to mention all those in business offices. The stores still stock them without change. It has not been announced that ant hosiery manufacturer has gone out of business. I have mine and plan to order more(Berkshire support pantyhose!). Hugs Lana Mae

I love pantyhose, they feel great and serve a purpose, in the cooler months they add warmth. The also cover up blemishes and ease the foot into a tight set of heels. In the summer I keep myself tan and hardly wear any hose. A friend of mine, GG, who is 18 and what I like to call "nicely thick" went out with me to a party, I took a picture of her and she didn't like the way her legs looked, that could of been fixed with a pair of control pantyhose. Just saying.

Pantyhose is more popular during this time of year cause of the weather, it's during the summer months that you rarely see any women wearing them

I absolutely love pantyhose (or tights, nylons, stockings, ..)!

I live in western Europe. I can tell that women often wear them in my country. Mostly for special occasions (weddings, holidays like Christmas or New Year's eve, etc..) but also in general. Especially when the weather is a bit colder, like now when it's winter. Even the younger women wear them frequently now.

I've noticed more and more women once again wearing sheer pantyhose, too. Perhaps their rediscovery is due to the fact that their legs look 1000 percent better with hosiery covering imperfections. I know how much better my legs look!

Without question, pantyhose have always been the #1 component to my dressing. Exposure to them back around age 8 or so is what truly sparked my interest in this lifestyle and it has only grown beautifully from there.

I like pantyhose! I would argue with any person that thinks bare legs look better than legs in hose.

Daisy Duke wore shiny pantyhose under those tiny little shorts. I wonder what brand they were?

Who remembers the 'Legs' commercials from the 70's, women walking around with NPL and the flying Legs egg would touch their ass and smooth things out. I was 10 or 11 then and used to buy the eggs for arts and crafts projects or nose cones for model rockets. My mom used to buy them for me, then one day I became more interested in the contents of that eggs themselves and the rest is history.

And god bless women who wear p-hose without panties...

Cheers,
Amy

I love the look and feel of pantyhose and tights, but they make my legs colder in winter. They flatten out my natural fur and any cold breeze across them feels even colder. Not into shaving yet.

Considering buying some leggings. Want small colorful print, but don't want too many looks and questions when in guy mode.
