Hello Girls!
I finally hurdled the biggest obstacle for people like us. I went out into the world! It was probably the most freeing and exhilarating thing I've done in a long time. Basically I woke up this morning after a long night of dressing (I slept dressed), put on some like makeup, really short shorts and spaghetti strap top, brown wig and flat shoes and took my dog for a walk. Immediately upon exiting my apartment there were two men painting an adjacent apartment and one of said to me "Good Morning!" I responded in kind and looked him straight in the eye! Then I walked past a few more people, and they either didn't notice or simply were indifferent.
The funny thing about it was I'm almost positive they knew (I'm not THAT passable lol) Made me think that maybe it's really not a big deal to some people.
This wasn't a huge outing mind you, but people, complete strangers, got to meet Michelle today! I feel so confident now that I wanna take on the world! Haha :hugs: I do want to say thank you to all of you who have given me advice and compliments! You really helped boost my courage to finally take this major step in my life. You all rock!
:hugs: Michelle

We do what we can. Maybe you will take it further, maybe not. Either is fine if it satisfies your need.

Congrats Michelle I know it must feel like freedom but won't ever happen for this old gal. First of all its in the teens here and misting snow, lol I know I'd draw attention in short shorts and spaghetti top today and my forms would freeze.

Good. For. You! After that first, and hardest step, it will get easier and more fun. Also, I agree with you that to most of the muggles, it's really not a big deal. At most, you're a novelty, something different, and maybe even an original. I could get used to that.
Keep On!

I've been out 4 times, just one at daytime driving my car around my neighborhood, the other 3, actually 4 one dinner with wife and 3 in gay clubs, it was delicious but I'm waiting to go out for shopping or just meet another cd friends and have a cup of coffee...

The first time is always the toughest. It's kind of a trip how little pointing, screaming, brimstone, and pitchforking is involved. I was fully expecting to get a lot of stares but was pleasantly surprised that I barely got a second look. Congratulations on the first step.

Eventually I hope to gain the courage to leave the house dressed on a regular day or night. I've only ever done so for Halloween.
I'm glad your experience went well.

That's awesome. I have left the house recently but wore a men's jacket so my neighbors wouldn't see the red satin top I was wearing as I walked to my car. I have bad enough problems with one neighbor as it is, don't wanna fuel the fire.

You look great, Michelle!
My boyfriend will walk his dogs behind his house in a dress or skirt and women's top (he doesn't wear a wig or makeup). It's duplexes close together, so a lot of backyards together there. He'll do the same walking to his car in my neighborhood. I so love that confidence and courage. It's beautiful! :)

"Not that passable" my butt! You look amazing! I'd never have the confidence to wear those short shorts.
Congrats on your first time out. It seems like it's little trips like this, not necessarily the grand outings to crowded public spaces, that are the most fun, rewarding, and affirming. Just living is where is at. I'm looking forward to reading about more of your outings. :)

Well done Michelle!
I went out last Sunday for a walk wearing a short skirt and with leggings and knee-high boots. It was raining a little so I was wearing an anorak but I passed a number of people without any comment, I even stopped in at a local shop on the way home and the assistant was completely normal about it.
Here's to many more trips out for you.

That's awesome Michelle!
And the more you do it, the easier it should get; though it gets easier to venture out, there can still be some nervousness at times.
That's how I can still get anyways.
I love the neck piece!

Cool. Well done! My first few outings were under cover of darkness, so you were braver than me.
I could never get away with that outfit outdoors!
A great feeling though, isn't it? Especially when people either don't notice or are indifferent.
